PAINTER

Position Description You will serve as a Painter in the Production Trades Division, Industrial Execution Department, of

FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.

Position Duties/Responsibilities You will prepare and various paints and proper finishes to process aircraft, aircraft engine structures, components, assembles, and/or sub-assemblies. You will sophisticated coating materials such as water base, elastomeric and low VOC materials to aircraft, components and ground support equipment, and radiation reflecting coatings to cockpits and canopy enclosures. You will clean and prepare aircraft, engine, and miscellaneous components and parts, by chemical, mechanical, and sonic methods using various chemical solutions. You will control and maintain temperature consistency and effectiveness of the various solutions. You will use abrasive sandblasting equipment to clean, remove corrosion, and other contaminants from parts and equipment. You will set-up equipment, select the proper size of shot, and masks parts to accomplish work tasks. You will perform solution analysis, make chemical additions, and inspect work in process and upon completion. You will operate various types of metal spraying equipment including plasma, thermo, and wire spray. You will coatings such as refractory ceramic coatings, exothermic materials, tungsten, carbide, nickel aluminide, nickel chrome alloys, spray silver, spray bronze, spray steel, spray aluminum, and molybdenum. You will work from complex technical specifications, blueprints, electronic schematics and various other written and verbal instructions. You will accomplish other duties as assigned.
