Hiring for Industrial Painters in Taylors, SC pays up to $21.15/hr. Job Description The Industrial Painter prepares, coats, and finishes steel products, structural components, and equipment in a steel mill environment. This role focuses on applying protective and decorative coatings to prevent corrosion, enhance durability, and meet precise customer specifications. The Industrial Painter operates spray equipment, performs thorough surface preparation, conducts quality inspections, and consistently follows safety and environmental regulations while working in a heavy industrial setting. Responsibilities Prepare steel surfaces for painting by cleaning, grinding, sanding, blasting, masking, and degreasing to ensure proper adhesion of coatings. Mix paints, primers, epoxies, and industrial coatings according to manufacturer specifications and job requirements. Apply coatings using airless spray systems, conventional spray guns, brushes, and rollers to achieve uniform coverage and desired finish. Measure coating thickness and inspect painted surfaces to verify that quality standards and customer specifications are met. Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and customer specifications to plan and execute painting tasks accurately. Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment as required to move and position steel components safely. Maintain paint booths, spray equipment, hoses, pumps, and related tools by performing routine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance. Perform touch-up painting and repair coating defects as needed to ensure finished products meet quality and appearance requirements. Follow all safety procedures and environmental regulations while working in a heavy industrial steel mill setting. Collaborate with production team members to coordinate workflow and meet production schedules across multiple shifts. Essential Skills Proven experience with industrial painting in a heavy manufacturing or steel mill environment. Proficiency in using airless spray systems and conventional spray guns for applying industrial coatings. Strong skills in surface preparation techniques, including cleaning, grinding, sanding, blasting, masking, and degreasing. Ability to mix paints, primers, epoxies, and industrial coatings accurately following manufacturer specifications. Competence in measuring coating thickness and inspecting finished surfaces to ensure consistent quality. Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and customer specifications. Experience operating overhead cranes, forklifts, or similar material handling equipment. Capability to maintain paint booths, spray equipment, hoses, pumps, and related tools in good working condition. Commitment to following safety protocols and environmental regulations in a hot, heavy industrial work environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working across multiple shifts, including days, nights, and weekends in a production environment. Ability to perform touch-up work and repair coating defects with attention to detail. Strong teamwork and communication skills to coordinate with production and maintenance personnel. Shifts are structured as day (typically 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., currently 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.), night (typically 4:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m., currently 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.) with a shift differential, and weekend (6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday through Sunday, paid for 40 hours) with an additional differential. The environment requires adherence to safety protocols, use of appropriate personal protective equipment, and comfort working in hot conditions around heavy machinery and industrial processes. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Taylors, SC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $36000.00 - $44000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
