Job Summary Helicopters Inc is seeking a Painter to strip, prepare, and refinish helicopter airframes, components, and interiors to exacting aviation industry standards. This role is critical to maintaining the appearance, corrosion protection, and airworthiness of our fleet, and requires strict adherence to FAA regulations, manufacturer specifications, and safety protocols. Training is available to candidates new to the aviation industry. Must have experience in other industries such as auto body. Key Responsibilities Prepare helicopter surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, masking, and chemical or media stripping of existing paint and coatings. Apply primer, base coat, clear coat, and specialty finishes (including corrosion-inhibiting and anti-icing coatings) using spray guns, HVLP equipment, and other application tools. Mix paints, primers, and coatings to match manufacturer color codes and specifications. Apply markings, stencils, registration numbers, and decals in accordance with FAA and customer requirements. Inspect surfaces before and after painting for defects such as corrosion, cracks, or improper adhesion, and report findings to maintenance personnel. Mask and protect avionics, windows, rotor components, and other sensitive areas prior to painting. Operate and maintain paint booth equipment, spray guns, sanders, and related tools; perform routine cleaning and minor maintenance on equipment. Follow all environmental, health, and safety regulations related to paint booth operation, hazardous material handling, and disposal of chemicals and waste. Maintain accurate records of materials used, work performed, and time logs in maintenance tracking systems. Collaborate with airframe and powerplant (A&P) mechanics, quality control inspectors, and engineering staff to coordinate work schedules and ensure airworthiness standards are met. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in aircraft painting, coatings, or a related field preferred. 2+ years of experience painting aircraft or helicopters, or equivalent experience in automotive/industrial refinishing with willingness to train on aviation-specific standards. Working knowledge of aviation paint systems, primers, and coatings (e.g., polyurethane, epoxy systems). Familiarity with FAA regulations related to aircraft exterior finishes (e.g., FAR Part 43) and manufacturer paint specifications. Ability to safely operate spray guns, HVLP systems, sanders, and other paint shop equipment. Understanding of proper use of personal protective equipment (respirators, suits) and hazardous material handling procedures. Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality, consistent finishes. Physical ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in elevated positions (lifts/scaffolding) for extended periods, and to lift up to 50 lbs. Willingness to work in a paint booth environment with exposure to fumes, noise, and temperature variation (with appropriate PPE provided).

Pay:
