LB Steel, an industry leading manufacturer of heavy fabrications for the construction, agriculture, mining and rail industries, is seeking a full-time Paint Shop Supervisor to join our team.

DUTIES:

• Daily supervision of Paint Shop Employees, including Painters, Paint Preppers, Paint Shop Blast Booth Employees, and Paint Shop Wash Booth Employees.
• Review Manufacturing Schedule for shipping goods and schedule the execution of Paint Prep and Final Paint according to Customer requirements and/or Specifications.
• Ensure all Employees have the training and/or skillsets needed to perform all tasks as assigned.
• Conduct daily Safety Meetings with all Paint Shop Employees prior to start of each daily Work Shift.
• Review all computer punches by Employees (Job On/Job Off) to ensure accurate information, train Employees as necessary.
• Ensure that the Paint Shop Employees have the correct safety gear to wear including protective suits and chemical masks and making sure they wear them.
• Perform the changeout of the Paint Booth Filters as necessary.
• Have the Paint Booth and light glasses cleaned as necessary.
• Make sure the compressor maintenance is performed as necessary (including the cleaning and/or changing the intake filters).
• Monitor the paint, blast, and wash equipment for worn-out parts or defects and replace the equipment according to need.
• Monitor the Wash Booth Chemicals and replacing/ordering as necessary.
• Monitor the Blast Booth Media and replacing/ordering as necessary.
• Perform inventory of paint and materials, compare needs to Shop Schedule, order supplies based on shipping schedules and lead times for paint deliveries.
• Assure adherence to

OSHA, IEPA

requirements.

• Schedule the HAZMAT material pickups as necessary.
• Make sure that Temperature and Humidity readings are recorded each day in each Paint Booth using instruments with current calibrations.
• Make sure that any Paint Deliveries are correctly labeled with FIFO Labels which accurately reflect the Shelf Life.
• Support Quality objectives and production schedules while ensuring product standards that will exceed customers' expectations.
• Have comprehensive understanding of customer/shop drawings and related standards requirements.
• Adhere to proficient problem recognition and resolution skill-set.
• Practice effective communication between other team members across multiple shifts.
• Assure compliance to Quality, Industry and Customer Specific Standards during all phases of Paint Shop Production.
• Work closely with manufacturing support to assure effective and efficient process control.
• Play a key role in training and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
• Direct enforcement of shop rules and safety regulations.

Some overtime and travel could be required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma/GED; Relevant work experience Some Vocational, College coursework or College Degree in related field preferred.
