Job Description

A dynamic paint and coating supplier that has been a market leader for 99 years is looking for an experienced stain and industrial coatings QC/color matcher.
Overview:
The Quality Control Technician (QC-Color) efficiently aids production by performing tests physically, visually, and mechanically to ensure products meet or adhere to pre-set quality standards provided by Rollie Williams Paint Spot or customers. Providing all adjustments to correct any non-conforming materials to meet the set quality standards for each product before filling. This position will also aid the technical team in developing various colors and new products as time and need allow. Accountabilities (other duties may be assigned): Use various equipment to test for: color, viscosity, gloss, density, film thickness, dry times, weight per gallon, solids content, cross hatch, sand ability, mar and cure, sag, leveling, cleanliness and peel ability. Additional tests may be required if directed by the technical team. Provide corrections to Batch Makers to resolve any test anomalies for production batches. Ensure that all results from testing are recorded and accurate. Maintain color standards, ensuring the standards are up to date. Under direction of the technical team, assists with new product and color development as time allows. Cleans, organizes, and maintains a professional and efficient work environment. Maintains and requests supplies and consumables for the department, working with Purchasing. Assists the technical team with customer complaints and returned products. Works with the technical team to correct batch formulations and associated QC instructions.
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to use personal computers, color computers, viscosity cups and equipment, drawdown machines, grind bars, and gloss meters.
Education and Experience:
A minimum of a high school education or equivalent is required. A chemical degree/certification is preferred. Previous paint/coatings manufacturing experience is preferred. Previous experience in a QC department of a chemical production plant is preferred.
