Job Title:
Industrial Painter Job Description This Industrial Painter role focuses on preparing and finishing metal components and equipment with high-quality industrial coatings in a manufacturing environment. You will work on a variety of products such as pumps, compressors, fabricated parts, and other equipment, ensuring each item meets strict quality, safety, and production standards. Responsibilities Prepare metal surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, grinding, masking, and degreasing components. Mix and prepare primers, paints, epoxies, and industrial coatings according to specified formulas and instructions. Apply coatings to pumps, compressors, fabricated parts, and equipment using spray guns and other painting equipment. Inspect painted surfaces for quality, coverage, color consistency, and overall finish, making adjustments as needed. Perform touch-ups and corrections to ensure products meet customer and company quality standards. Move materials and components safely throughout the production area to support workflow. Maintain paint booth equipment, spray guns, and work areas in clean and proper working condition. Follow production schedules and job travelers to ensure on-time completion of painting assignments. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to all safety, environmental, and OSHA standards. Collaborate with production, welding, machining, and assembly teams to support overall workflow and customer delivery requirements. Essential Skills Previous experience in industrial, manufacturing, automotive, or equipment painting. Proficiency using spray painting equipment, spray guns, and related tools. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work. Ability to read and follow work instructions, paint specifications, and safety procedures. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on your feet for extended periods. Experience with paint preparation, including sanding, masking, and surface cleaning. Hands-on experience working in or around paint booths and industrial painting environments. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience painting industrial pumps, compressors, pressure vessels, or heavy equipment. Familiarity with epoxy, urethane, and corrosion-resistant coating systems. Experience with surface preparation methods such as sandblasting or media blasting. Forklift certification or experience operating forklifts. Experience operating overhead cranes. Familiarity with coating thickness gauges and quality inspection processes. Mechanical aptitude and ability to understand manufacturing drawings or specifications. Exposure to lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices. Experience in welding, fabrication, or general manufacturing. Experience with auto body painting, powder coating, and industrial coating applications. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in Struthers, OH, in an industrial manufacturing facility. The position follows a first-shift schedule, typically 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a 90-day assignment duration. You will work in and around paint booths, spray guns, sandblasting or media blasting equipment, and other industrial painting tools. The environment involves standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and moving materials throughout the production area. Safety is a priority, and you will use required personal protective equipment (PPE) while adhering to all safety, environmental, and OSHA standards. You will collaborate closely with welding, machining, and assembly teams in a hands-on, production-focused setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Youngstown, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $28.00/hr.
