Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated Plating Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for applying protective and decorative coatings to various metal components through electroplating and other finishing processes. The ideal candidate will ensure that all plating operations adhere to strict quality standards, safety protocols, and production schedules. Duties Operate plating equipment and spray guns for electroplating, powder coating, and conventional spraying processes to achieve high-quality finishes. Interpret production documents, work orders, and technical specifications to ensure proper application of coatings. Prepare surfaces through construction painting surface preparation and fabrication techniques prior to plating. Conduct visual color comparisons and inspect finished products for coating consistency, quality standards, and surface defects. Maintain cleanliness of work area and equipment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations including respirator use and respiratory protection. Use precision measuring instruments and basic math skills to verify dimensions and coating thicknesses. Assist in machining or auto body repair tasks as needed to prepare components for finishing. Support lean manufacturing initiatives by optimizing workflow and reducing waste during production finishing processes. Document process steps accurately in production records and support quality audits. Requirements Proven experience operating coating spray guns, airless paint sprayers, or conventional spray equipment in a manufacturing or industrial setting. Mechanical knowledge with familiarity in fabrication, machining, auto painting, or auto body repair is advantageous. Ability to interpret technical drawings, production documents, and specifications accurately. Knowledge of quality standards in production environments with an emphasis on visual inspection techniques. Competence in handling hand tools, power tools, cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment safely. Understanding of construction painting surface preparation procedures and industrial painting techniques. Basic math skills for measurements related to coating thicknesses and component dimensions. Commitment to safety protocol adherence including PPE use such as respirators and protective clothing. Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform visual color comparisons reliably. Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles to enhance efficiency in production finishing tasks.
