Automotive Paint Prep TechnicianJob Summary Detail-oriented Automotive Paint Prep Technician with experience preparing vehicles and components for the paint process in a fast-paced manufacturing or collision repair environment. Skilled in identifying paint defects, wet sanding, surface preparation, masking support, and assisting painters to ensure high-quality finishes. Knowledgeable in automotive paint products, application processes, and quality standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesInspect vehicles and parts for paint defects, surface imperfections, and quality concerns.
Perform sanding and surface preparation using proper tools and equipment to ensure readiness for paint application.
Prepare vehicles and components for masking and painting operations.
Assist painters and masking technicians with all paint preparation activities.
Conduct wet sanding, paint correction, and finish preparation as needed.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, tools, and equipment.
Follow quality, safety, and production standards throughout the painting process.
Work collaboratively with paint, body, and production teams to meet deadlines and quality expectations.
QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver's license.
Previous experience in an automotive paint shop, body shop, manufacturing paint department, or vehicle finishing environment preferred.
Basic understanding of automotive paint systems, products, and application processes.
Experience using sanding equipment, hand tools, and paint preparation materials.
