Position Summary:
The Painter is responsible for preparing, painting, and finishing motors, parts, and related components in a manufacturing environment. This role performs surface preparation, applies coatings in accordance with work instructions and customer or
MIL-SPEC
requirements, and supports kitting, packaging, and crating activities as needed to meet production and shipping schedules.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, masking, grinding, and completing other required preparation tasks. Mix and apply primers, paints, and protective coatings in accordance with work instructions, customer requirements, and applicable
MIL-SPEC
standards. Spray paint motors, components, fabricated parts, and assemblies while maintaining required coverage, thickness, and finish quality. Read and follow job travelers, paint schedules, technical data sheets, and applicable specifications. Inspect completed work and perform touch-up or rework as needed to meet quality standards. Clean and maintain spray equipment, paint tools, and the assigned work area. Handle paints, solvents, and other chemicals in accordance with safety and environmental requirements. Complete required production, quality, and related documentation accurately and on time. Assist with kitting, packaging, and crating of finished goods or components as needed. Collaborate with production, quality, and shipping teams to meet schedule and customer requirements. Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Experience High school diploma or GED. Previous industrial or manufacturing painting experience preferred. Experience with paint preparation, masking, priming, spray application, and finishing. Ability to read and follow work instructions, job travelers, and paint specifications. Experience working with MIL-SPEC or other customer coating requirements preferred. Ability to identify paint defects and maintain established quality standards. Ability to safely use hand tools, paint equipment, and related shop tools. Ability to support kitting, packaging, and crating functions as needed. Ability to work safely and effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment Physical Demands/Work Environment Regular standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting throughout the shift. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., and perform the physical requirements of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including a respirator, gloves, eye protection, and other safety gear. Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to paint fumes, chemicals, and industrial noise
