$24.00 - $26.50 per hour Job description: Job Title Painter, Shop Assistant Location Charlotte, NC Reports to Shop Supervisor The Painter / Shop Assistant is responsible for preparing and painting custom fabricated assemblies while providing general support to manufacturing shop operations. This role works under the direct supervision of the Hydraulic Shop Floor Supervisor and collaborates closely with technicians in multiple work centers to support daily shop activities. This is a hands-on position well-suited for someone with experience painting industrial machinery and a mechanical aptitude who is motivated to expand their skills in a clean, safe, and climate-controlled manufacturing environment.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
 Prepare surfaces and painting of custom fabrication assemblies using airless, HVLP, and conventional spray equipment.
Paint types can vary:
Industrial enamel, 2-part epoxies, polyurethane and more.  Assist with checking in materials and verifying parts against bills of materials  Clean and prepare hydraulic reservoirs for testing and painting  Support fabrication tasks including cutting, deburring, and beveling material using shop equipment  Set up and operate basic shop machinery and tools under supervision  Read and interpret basic hydraulic schematics and assembly drawings  Maintain shop cleanliness, organization, and perform preventive maintenance as assigned  Work cooperatively with technicians and other associates to support production schedules
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
 Ability to read a tape measure accurately to within 1/16 inch  Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn fabrication and assembly techniques  Ability to learn and safely operate shop equipment including: o Horizontal band saw o Drill press o Ironworker o Pipe threading equipment o Common hand and power tools  Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship  Positive, professional attitude with a willingness to grow skills and product knowledge  Effective verbal and written communication skills  Strong safety awareness when working around industrial machinery Education & Experience  High School Diploma or equivalent GED  Prior experience in a Manufacturing Shop environment is preferred.
Training Provided:
 Forklift certification  Safe and correct use of shop equipment  Industrial safety practices  Pipe threading and fitting  Fabrication equipment setup and operation  Industrial material handling equipment
