Job Description

With a team that possesses over 210 years of cumulative technician experience, we are one of the leading coating and lining applicators in North America, servicing customers in the following industries: power generation, water and waste treatment, chemical processing and manufacturing, metal plating, pharmaceutical manufacturing, oil and gas, liquid bulk transportation, milling and mining and railroad. Job Overview Arbonite is hiring Industrial Painter/Abrasive Blasting Technicians to learn our trade and keep the country's most crucial businesses running. Tasks include metal surface preparation, spray coating application using Conventional Air and Airless Spray Equipment to apply High-build epoxies, polyurethanes and various zinc primer coatings. Reading drawings, masking, working with hand tools and power tools, and rubber sheet lining application. Roles and Responsibilities Prepare steel through abrasive blasting (Steel grit, Garnet and Black Beauty are common blast media used) Utilize Conventional Air and Airless Spray Equipment to apply High-build epoxies, polyurethanes and various zinc primer coatings to customer's industrial equipment (ex: chemical storage tanks, water treatment tanks, Cargo tankers, etc.) Perform Confined space entry to apply linings to the interior of customer's industrial equipment (ex: chemical storage tanks, water treatment tanks, Cargo tankers, etc.) Effectively mix coatings Apply Rubber sheet linings to customer equipment Read drawings Basic knowledge of hand tools for use when grinding, cutting material, trimming, sanding, lining removals etc. Perform in-process quality assurance and record data. Experience using wet/dry mill gauge to measure paint thickness Troubleshoot equipment and coating/lining material application challenges Achieve and demonstrate a thorough and complete level of understanding of the Company's safety policies and/or OSHA safety standards through introductory and continuing education safety training programs Qualifications and Educational Requirements A minimum of 3 years Industrial Coating or Abrasive Blasting experience is required Supervisory experience preferred High School Diploma or educational equivalent (GED) preferred Experience using power tools is required Must work well in a team environment, as well as independently Must be professional and have a good work ethic Must be well-organized and have good housekeeping skills Possess good problem-solving skills Forklift experience preferred, but not required Ability to meet or exceed the Company's attendance and punctuality standards Reliable transportation is required Physical Demands Some lifting required (5-50 lbs.) Ability to climb ladders Ability to work in confined spaces without claustrophobia Bending at waist, sitting, kneeling, laying horizontally, climbing, standing for prolonged periods and walking as job requires Environmental Conditions Exposure to chemicals and solvents Extreme heat or cold Noise level, which may at times require hearing protection (earplugs or other means) Heights ElectricityArbonite is an EEO employer -
