Basic Qualifications Education/Training:
High School diploma. Vocational training and on-the-job experience are preferred. Skill(s): Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; excellent attention to detail; ability to shift project demands and meet deadlines while maintaining consistent output quality; demonstrated ability to apply sand and finish body fill resins on steel substrates and OEM finishes; ability to correctly assemble and disassemble parts; demonstrated knowledge and ability to use required air/hand tools; and proficient in the application of caulk and seam sealer.
Working Conditions:
Ability to stand, sit, bend, reach, and lift items weighing 40 lbs. or less; exposure to chemicals and loud environment; operate power tools/equipment; work at elevated heights or in confined spaces and handle hazardous, volatile, or flammable materials.
Experience:
One (1) year of experience in a related role is highly preferred; however, on the job comprehensive training may be considered. General Responsibilities The Paint Prep is responsible for preparing parts and surfaces for final coating by cleaning, sanding, masking, and priming. This role ensures high-quality, durable finishes while maintaining a steady workflow in a busy shop environment, strictly adhering to all safety protocols and production standards. This position is classified as safety sensitive. Successful candidates must comply with all company safety policies and procedures, including the company's drug- and alcohol-free workplace requirements. Individuals in this role are subject to pre-employment, random, post-incident, and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing, consistent with applicable law and company policy. Violations of these policies may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Essential Duties Performs a variety of duties to support the paint shop as follows: Prepares parts/substrates for paint process. Organizes work according to directions. Maintains orderly, clean and safe shop conditions. Coordinates specific work tasks with other personnel within the department as well as with other departments to ensure the smooth and efficient service. Abides by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the workplace. Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the company's compliance with all regulatory requirements. Reports pertinent information to the immediate supervisor as requested, or according to an established schedule; compiles information as necessary or as directed and provides data to appropriate personnel. Responds to inquiries relating to his/her particular area, or to requests from customers, other personnel, etc., within given time frames and within established policy.
