This position is responsible for preparing metal and structural surfaces through abrasive blasting and applying industrial coatings to protect equipment, piping, and structural steel. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, quality-driven, and experienced working in industrial or heavy construction environments. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Perform abrasive blasting (sandblasting) to remove rust, scale, paint, and contaminants from steel and other surfaces. Prepare surfaces for coatings using grinding, sanding, scraping, wire brushing, and masking techniques. Apply industrial primers, epoxies, urethanes, zinc coatings, and finish coats using conventional and airless spray equipment. Mix paints and coatings according to manufacturer specifications. Inspect completed work to ensure proper coating thickness, adhesion, and quality standards. Operate and maintain blasting equipment, paint pumps, spray guns, compressors, hoses, and related tools. Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment. Follow all OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and environmental requirements. Safely handle hazardous materials and properly dispose of waste. Read and interpret work orders, specifications, and coating requirements. Assist with general labor duties as needed to support project completion. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Qualifications Minimum 2 years of industrial sandblasting and painting experience preferred. Experience working in industrial, pipeline, refinery, petrochemical, or heavy construction environments. Knowledge of industrial coatings, surface preparation, and blasting techniques. Ability to safely operate blasting and painting equipment. Familiarity with coating specifications and quality standards. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship. Requirements Valid driver's license preferred. TWIC Card preferred or ability to obtain one. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, bend, stoop, kneel, and stand for extended periods. Willingness to work overtime and travel as project needs require.
