Paint Manager Position Summary:
Propell, a VoltaGrid company, is seeking Painters, Paint Preppers, and Sandblasters to support industrial equipment manufacturing. These are separate openings within the Paint Department. Employees prepare, coat, or blast equipment, components, and structures according to their assigned role, ensuring surfaces meet production and quality requirements while following safe work practices. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Painter Prepare, mix, thin, and apply coatings in accordance with manufacturer product data sheets and customer paint specifications. Use spray equipment and wet-film gauges to achieve specified coverage and coating thickness; identify and correct finish defects. Follow grounding procedures, oven operating requirements, and coating cure temperatures and parameters. Read drawings and specifications, complete quality-control records, support surface preparation, and clean spray equipment and paint booths. Paint Prepper Prepare surfaces through cleaning, sanding, grinding, body work, taping, and masking; remove imperfections before primer application. Apply body filler and seam sealer, perform small paint touch-ups, and inspect parts for defects. Hang and organize parts on carts using appropriate spacing and hook capacity; unmask and unload parts after painting. Read work instructions, paint labels, and basic drawings; maintain preparation tools and install small decals as directed. Sandblaster Clean, mask, and abrasive-blast chassis, parts, and other metal products in preparation for paint application. Remove unwanted material and inspect substrates before and after blasting to verify surface quality. Prepare and maintain blasting equipment and media; monitor equipment and protective gear for wear and coordinate maintenance and cleanup.
Other Requirements:
Ability to read and follow the work instructions, drawings, specifications, and safety procedures applicable to the assigned position. Good communication, attention to detail, time management, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a production team, maintain dependable attendance, and work the agreed night-shift schedule.
Painter :
Working knowledge of industrial coating processes, spray equipment, grounding, curing, and coating-thickness measurement; ability to distinguish colors and interpret paint specifications. Previous related work experience preferred.
Paint Prepper:
Basic knowledge of coating equipment, surface preparation, body filler, seam sealer, and hand tools such as sanders, grinders, and polishers. Previous related work experience preferred.
Sandblaster :
One to two years of previous industry experience; ability to operate sandblasting equipment and basic hand tools, interpret layout patterns, and work with minimal supervision. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Physical Requirements and Work Environment Perform hands-on work in an industrial manufacturing and coating environment, with the manual dexterity needed to operate tools and equipment. Lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds; use assistance or mechanical lifting devices for heavier materials. For paint preparation work, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, twist, crawl, reach overhead, and climb ladders, stairs, platforms, trailers, and production equipment as required. Complete required OSHA and company safety training and follow applicable personal protective equipment requirements. Provide steel-toe footwear and the tools required for the assigned position.
