Duties Prepare surfaces for coating by cleaning, sanding, and performing surface preparation tasks using hand tools and power tools. Operate powder coating equipment, including spray guns and airless paint sprayers, to apply coatings evenly across different materials. Interpret production documents and specifications to ensure proper coating procedures are followed accurately. Use conventional spraying techniques and coating methods to achieve smooth finishes on various parts and assemblies. Handle materials safely with forklift operation and materials handling protocols to ensure efficient workflow. Adhere strictly to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators and respiratory protection gear. Conduct visual color comparisons and inspect finished products for quality standards in production finishing. Maintain cleanliness of work area and equipment to uphold manufacturing safety standards. Perform routine maintenance on spray guns, hand tools, power tools, and machining equipment to ensure optimal operation. Assist with construction painting surface preparation when required, ensuring surfaces are ready for coating application. Use precision measuring instruments to verify coating thickness and surface quality during the finishing process. Qualifications Prior experience in industrial painting or powder coating is highly preferred. Mechanical knowledge related to spray guns, coating application equipment, and surface preparation tools. Ability to interpret manufacturing instructions and production documents accurately. Familiarity with safety protocols including PPE use, respirator fitting, and respiratory protection measures. Basic math skills for measuring coating thicknesses and calculating material requirements. Experience with construction painting surface preparation or auto body repair is a plus. Knowledge of visual color comparison techniques to ensure consistent finish quality. Ability to operate forklifts safely; certification is advantageous but not mandatory. Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality standards in production environments.
