Position Summary Capital Industrial is seeking an experienced Painter to join our shop. In this role you will prepare, prime, and finish a wide range of industrial equipment — including trailers, loaders, and custom customer jobs — to a durable, professional standard. The ideal candidate brings a strong automotive painting background and is confident working on large, curved, and non-flat surfaces where consistent coverage and finish quality are critical. This is a hands-on production role for someone who takes pride in clean prep work and a flawless final coat. Key Responsibilities Surface preparation including sanding, grinding, masking, degreasing, and priming of metal and composite surfaces prior to painting. Apply primers, base coats, and topcoats using HVLP/spray equipment to trailers, loaders, and other industrial and customer-supplied equipment. Paint and finish non-flat, curved, and irregular surfaces while maintaining even coverage, correct film build, and a smooth, professional finish. Mix, match, and tint paint to specification, including color matching for customer and automotive-style jobs. Perform touch-ups, blending, and defect correction (runs, orange peel, overspray) to meet quality standards. Set up and maintain spray booth, guns, and related equipment; clean and properly store tools and materials after each job. Follow all safety, ventilation, and environmental procedures for handling paints, solvents, and coatings. Inspect finished work for quality and durability and coordinate with shop leads on job priorities and timelines. Qualifications & Experience Proven experience as a painter, ideally in an automotive, fleet, or industrial equipment setting. Strong working knowledge of automotive painting techniques — surface prep, priming, base/clear systems, and color matching. Demonstrated ability to paint non-flat and complex surfaces with consistent, high-quality results. Proficiency with spray equipment (HVLP or similar) and paint-mixing systems. Solid understanding of coatings, solvents, and cure processes, and the safe handling of each. Attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a shop team. Valid driver's license preferred; ability to move and position equipment for painting. Physical Requirements & Work Environment Ability to stand, bend, kneel, reach, and work in various positions for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and to move or position parts and equipment. Comfortable wearing required personal protective equipment, including a respirator, gloves, and eye protection. Work is performed in a shop environment with exposure to paint fumes, solvents, dust, and noise; adherence to all PPE and ventilation requirements is mandatory. Schedule & Compensation Employment type: Full-time, 40 hours per week, with occasional overtime as workload requires.
