Job Description

Position Summary:
The Certified Painter applies protective coatings to ships, tanks, and other marine structures using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment. This position requires knowledge of surface preparation, coating applications, and marine preservation processes in accordance with SSPC standards.
Qualifications:
Certifications:
Must hold at least one of the following SSPC certifications: C-7, C-12, or C-14
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Experience:
Minimum 3 years marine painting experience Ability to read and comprehend instructions, drawings, and technical correspondence Strong understanding of ship terminology and compartment nomenclature Proficient with marine coatings, surface preparation, and blasting equipment Must have knowledge of coating preservation processes per SSPC standards Must be able to work in tight spaces and at heights Must pass pre-employment physical and drug test Must have reliable transportation
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and clean surfaces by scraping, sanding, needle gunning, and blasting to remove old paint and rust. Mix and apply coatings according to Material Data Sheets (MDS). Apply primers and finish coats to required MIL specifications and standards. Operate and troubleshoot abrasive blast and spray paint equipment (airless and conventional). Mask, tape, and protect surfaces from overspray or damage. Inspect preserved areas and perform touch-up work as needed. Estimate material quantities and labor requirements for assigned tasks. Safely use hand and power tools associated with the trade. Follow all safety, environmental, and quality control procedures.
Pay:
$28/hour plus Per Diem if qualified
Schedule:
Must be available to work any of the below schedules Monday-Thursday 5am-3pm Monday-Thursday 4pm-2am Sunday, Friday, Saturday 5am-5pm, Thursday 5am-9am Sunday, Friday, Saturday 5pm-5am, Thursday 5am-9am #I08
