Position Summary C&E Design, an AMP Quality Energy Services company, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Controls / Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Specialist to join our team. The Maintenance Controls / I&E Specialist is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving automation and control systems supporting manufacturing and production operations. This position focuses on increasing equipment uptime, efficiency, reliability, and quality through effective troubleshooting, programming, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement. The position provides hands-on technical support involving PLCs, robotics, instrumentation, motion controls, operator interfaces/HMIs, temperature controls, vision systems, and related electrical and facility systems. Essential Functions & Responsibilities Troubleshoot, maintain, and improve industrial automation and control systems. Diagnose PLC, robotic, instrumentation, electrical, and controls-related issues. Review control-system issues and make necessary corrections or adjustments to system configuration and logic. Program and troubleshoot PLC systems, including Allen-Bradley and Siemens platforms. Program, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial robotic systems, including ABB Robotics. Support I&E technicians with instrumentation, electrical, and controls troubleshooting. Update process logic, control limits, set points, recipes, and other control parameters. Modify control logic to support equipment additions, modifications, and process improvements. Support motion-control systems, operator interfaces/HMIs, temperature controls, robotics, and vision systems. Perform control-system software backups and maintain the ability to support disaster recovery following control-system failures. Perform regular review and testing of safety interlocks. Manage and support calibration activities and calibration software, including Beamex. Interpret electrical drawings, control drawings, specifications, and other technical documentation. Work collaboratively with technicians, engineers, system integrators, contractors, and other stakeholders on controls-related projects. Assist with preventive maintenance activities and repair work based on facility and equipment needs. Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and efficiency, reduce downtime, and control maintenance costs. Assist in ensuring adequate spare parts are available for critical equipment and systems. Participate in technical training, knowledge sharing, and continuous-improvement activities. Maintain effective working relationships across departments and with project stakeholders. Communicate controls-system activities, technical needs, issues, and improvement opportunities to appropriate leadership. Maintain prompt, regular, and dependable attendance. Perform additional related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. 7+ years of direct experience preferred in the maintenance and troubleshooting of industrial robotic systems, including manufacturing robotic programming experience. 7+ years of direct experience preferred maintaining and troubleshooting PLC systems. Strong experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs preferred. PLC programming experience with Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens platforms. Manufacturing or industrial maintenance experience. Experience troubleshooting instrumentation, electrical, and control systems. Ability to interpret electrical drawings, control drawings, specifications, and technical documentation. Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills. Strong project coordination and organizational skills. Ability to effectively collaborate with and influence others without direct supervisory authority. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard PC applications. Preferred Qualifications Associate or bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Robotics, Automation, Controls, or a related technical field preferred. Experience in Teflon, fluoropolymer, chemical, or related process manufacturing environments Experience with DCS systems and process instrumentation Knowledge of NFPA, NEC, ISA, and OSHA standards Experience with reliability and preventive maintenance programs AutoCAD experience preferred. Experience with ABB Robotics strongly preferred. Employment Requirements This position operates within an active industrial/manufacturing environment.
