Position Overview The Controls Service Technician plays a key role in supporting customers by maintaining and servicing building temperature control and automation systems. This position serves as a technical resource within the service team, responsible for diagnosing complex system issues, performing advanced repairs, and ensuring equipment operates efficiently and reliably. In addition to hands-on technical work, this role provides guidance and mentorship to other service technicians, helping develop their troubleshooting and maintenance skills. The Lead Technician also works closely with operations staff, sales teams, and customers to coordinate service activities and communicate important system updates or concerns affecting facility operations. Key Responsibilities Diagnose and resolve issues with building automation and temperature control systems. Analyze system performance and determine appropriate corrective actions based on mechanical operation, BAS data, and system design. Program, tune, and adjust control systems according to manufacturer guidelines and engineering specifications. Perform equipment calibration and point-to-point testing to verify proper system operation. Maintain accurate service documentation and provide updates for as-built drawings and engineering records. Communicate technical information clearly to customers and provide guidance on recommended repairs or equipment replacements. Offer technical support and recommendations to service teams and facility owners when addressing complex service issues or warranty concerns. Train and mentor service technicians and building personnel on maintenance procedures and energy-efficient system operation. Maintain detailed service records and report job progress and issues to supervisors. Collaborate with operations managers, engineers, supervisors, and sales staff to coordinate service work and resolve technical challenges. Help ensure service work is performed safely, meets applicable codes, and aligns with company policies. Participate in periodic on-call support as required. Perform additional duties as assigned. Required Qualifications At least 3 years of controls service experience, or 3 years of relevant industry experience. Valid drivers license and ability to travel to customer sites. Strong programming and troubleshooting experience with systems such as Carrier controls, Distech, or similar building automation platforms. Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and system specifications. Working knowledge of HVAC equipment, building automation systems, electrical systems, and energy management principles. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining high levels of accuracy and accountability. Experience training or mentoring less experienced technicians. Strong problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills. Solid organizational and computer skills.
Offered compensation:
$68,000/yr - $92,000/yr
