Field-Based Salary:

$80,000 - $110,000 (Depending on experience) About the Role An established, independent building automation and controls contractor is seeking a BAS Technician to join their team in the Northern Virginia/ Maryland/ Washington DC area. This is an excellent opportunity for a controls professional with experience in commercial HVAC automation, DDC, or building management systems to work on a diverse range of projects across commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, starting up, commissioning, and integrating commercial HVAC control systems, as well as supporting service calls and developing building automation system front-end solutions. Key Responsibilities Program, start up, commission, and integrate commercial HVAC control systems Read and interpret HVAC sequences of operation, understanding the intent behind each application Review and understand project drawings, control diagrams, and specifications Apply sequences of operation to block-and-wire control programs Engineer and configure Niagara AX / Niagara 4 stations Start up and commission controllers, integrating them into Niagara AX / Niagara 4 systems Verify the functionality of sensors, actuators, and associated control equipment, troubleshooting issues as required Develop building automation system graphical user interfaces in line with project specifications and company standards Complete service calls and support larger BAS projects under the direction of a Project Manager or Controls Engineer Provide owner training, technical support, and assistance with system handover Collaborate with project teams to ensure successful delivery of automation and HVAC controls projects Qualifications 2+ years of experience in the building automation, HVAC controls, DDC, or related controls industry, or an equivalent combination of vocational training and experience Understanding of HVAC equipment and sequences of operation Ability to read and interpret control drawings, project specifications, and diagrams Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and follow written and verbal instructions Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Valid driver's licence and the ability to travel to multiple job sites as required Comfortable working in a field-based environment, including varying temperatures, heights, and construction or mechanical plant areas Ability to use hand tools, laptops, ladders, and controls equipment as required Preferred Experience Tridium Niagara AX or Niagara 4 certification Previous experience engineering or configuring Niagara stations Experience with DDC, PLC, or similar ladder-logic programming Experience programming, starting up, or commissioning commercial HVAC control systems Familiarity with BAS front-end graphics, sensors, actuators, and controls integration Experience working on commercial, industrial, or institutional HVAC automation projects What You'll Receive Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) retirement plan with generous company matching Health Savings Plan Bonus pay and commission opportunities Company vehicle Continued education and training in the electrical and HVAC trades On-site wellness programmes and resources supporting employee and family wellbeing Opportunity to work on a diverse range of commercial and industrial building automation projects Supportive working environment with opportunities for professional development and career progression Equal Opportunity Employer Our client is an Equal Opportunity Employer and welcomes applications from all qualified individuals regardless of race, colour, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
