Job Title:
Controls Technician Job Description We are seeking a hands-on Controls Technician to support and improve automated manufacturing systems in a fast-paced production environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys troubleshooting complex equipment, optimizing control systems, and working closely with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams to maximize equipment reliability and performance. The Controls Technician will focus on PLC troubleshooting, electrical troubleshooting, HMI support, and continuous improvement initiatives across a variety of automated production equipment. Responsibilities Diagnose and resolve electrical and controls-related equipment failures to minimize downtime. Troubleshoot and modify PLC programs using Allen-Bradley and Siemens software platforms. Support HMIs, industrial communication networks, and machine-to-machine interfaces. Analyze recurring equipment issues and implement long-term corrective actions. Assist with startup, commissioning, and optimization of new equipment and automation projects. Perform root cause analysis on machine faults and develop sustainable solutions. Work with maintenance and production teams to improve equipment uptime and efficiency. Essential Skills Experience with Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLC platforms. Troubleshooting automation systems. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, and control drawings. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with HMIs, VFDs, sensors, and automated manufacturing equipment. Knowledge of SCADA systems. Familiarity with robotics or motion control systems. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Lafayette, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
