$24.00-$28.00 per hour, depending on experience Position Overview Archon Systems Integration is seeking a Panel Technician to join our team in Carlsbad, New Mexico. This is a hands-on position focused on the fabrication, assembly, and wiring of custom industrial control panels used in automation and control systems. Previous PLC, automation, or control panel experience is not required. We are willing to train the right candidate. We are looking for someone who is mechanically inclined, comfortable working with hand and power tools, takes pride in their workmanship, and has strong attention to detail. Candidates with backgrounds in construction, electrical work, fabrication, automotive, industrial maintenance, HVAC, or other skilled trades are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities The Panel Technician will work from electrical drawings, panel layouts, and established procedures to assist with the construction of industrial control panels.

Responsibilities include:

Assemble custom PLC and industrial control panels. Lay out and install DIN rail, wire duct, terminal blocks, relays, power supplies, circuit protection, PLC hardware, and other electrical components. Drill, cut, tap, and modify electrical enclosures and backpanels. Measure, cut, strip, label, terminate, and route electrical wiring. Install wire labels, terminal markers, equipment tags, and other panel identification. Read and follow electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layout drawings. Use hand tools, power tools, crimpers, drills, taps, and basic electrical test equipment. Maintain clean and organized wiring and panel construction. Perform basic continuity checks and assist with panel testing and QA/QC. Follow company panel-building procedures, drawings, and quality standards. Maintain a clean and organized panel shop and work area. Work closely with Controls Engineers and Automation Specialists during panel construction and testing.

Qualifications Required:

High school diploma or equivalent. Mechanical aptitude and willingness to work with your hands. Ability to accurately use basic hand and power tools. Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic measurements. Strong attention to detail. Ability to follow written procedures, drawings, and instructions. Willingness to learn electrical schematics and industrial control panel construction. Dependable, organized, and able to work as part of a team.

Preferred but not required:

Construction or skilled-trade experience. Electrical or industrial maintenance experience. Fabrication or assembly experience. Automotive, equipment, or low-voltage wiring experience. Experience reading electrical or construction drawings. Experience using a multimeter. Previous control panel or electrical enclosure fabrication experience. PLC programming or automation experience is not required for this position. What We're Looking For Technical experience is valuable, but we are equally interested in candidates who demonstrate strong craftsmanship and a willingness to learn.

As experience and technical competency increase, employees may have opportunities to advance into positions such as: Panel Technician II → Senior Panel Technician → Panel Shop Lead Employees interested in industrial automation may also have opportunities to develop toward Automation Specialist roles as they gain experience.
