Position Summary, Team Structure & Elevation Opportunities As a Controls Technician, you will have a crucial part in the implementation of a Smart Building System. From performing site audits, commissioning, troubleshooting, etc. You will also be responsible for the provisioning and testing of the system, to ensure the client's project is delivered as smoothly as possible. You will be supporting the Project Manager/Coordinator in the successful execution & delivery of a system for the customer. IoT Deployment Services team structure and horizontal structure provide Project Managers & Coordinators the autonomy they need to oversee the project's execution with the assistance of our talented Controls Technician. Controls Technicians are the team members that perform and execute the core responsibilities of getting the system operational. They report directly to a Project Manager within the team, and typically work alongside fellow Controls Technicians. Controls Technicians have multiple elevation paths in front of them. So long as their qualifications, knowledge, skillset, and growth align with company expectations, a Controls Technician can pursue: Further advancement down the Technician path (Controls Technician II, III, Senior Controls Technician) Advancement into Project Coordination or Project Management Switching to alternative teams/roles to better suit their career growth (System Designer, Estimators, Procurement, Installation, etc.) Expectations & Responsibilities Primary Responsibilities System Commissioning - Doing all tasks necessary to set up a control system, including but not limited to commissioning devices, creation of zones/spaces within the system, creating & applying schedules, etc. System Testing & Verification - Whether it be on-site or remotely, a Controls Technician shall lead the verification process to test the functionality of devices for the system and record such results, including issues. Rapid Device/System Troubleshooting & Resolution - Whether it be onsite or remotely, a critical aspect of a Control Technician is the ability to quickly and accurately determine the cause of an issue and either directly apply the resolution/fix or recommend solutions to on-site installers for them to put in place. Project Documentation Creation & Upkeep - Creation and management of project documentation. Such as Designs, as-builts, verification reports, punch lists, etc. You will also be expected to keep project, customer, end-user or team documentation, logs, notes, etc. up to date. This ranges from internal company software to external customer expectations. Proactive Status Updates & Communication - A Controls Technician is a Project Manager's first line in gathering information regarding project happenings, and adequately relaying that information back to the Project Manager and their team so Managers & Coordinators can react to information as the project is on-going and relay important information to project stakeholders. Comprehensive Owners Training - Showing off, demoing, and overall providing on-site or remote training for an end-user of a system you finished commissioning. Secondary Responsibilities Assisting Other Teams - From time to time, a Controls Technician may be required to work on the systems or projects outside of their typical team. Process Improvements - As Controls Technicians, you have the greatest visibility in our commissioning tasks, they play a part in the conversations about how we can improve these processes. (Required) High level of computer literacy & Experience with Office 365 products (Office, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) (Required) A willingness to travel 10%-15% of the month/year.
