JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Glass and Shower Doors Measuring Technician acts as the face of the company during in-home estimates, blending technical precision in measuring custom glass with exceptional customer service.REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION
High school diploma preferred but not required, or equivalent (OTJ experience can be substituted for education).Language:
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred but not required.LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION
Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Familiar with project materials, practices, and procedures. A background in construction or carpentry is a requirement Strong measuring skills with an understanding that precision is critical; accuracy matters to the sixteenth of an inch. Comfortable with tape measures, levels, and interacting with people—must be good with both tools and customers. Ability to safely climb a ladder CAD Software experience preferable.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Arrive at the shop, or job site, as appropriate, on time and ready to begin work at the scheduled time. Ensure that your vehicle and equipment are operated in a responsible and safe manner. Always keep the truck clean - inside and out. Document all jobs, take before/after photos, and update job status in software. Make sure equipment and tools, such as levels and tape measures, are used in the proper manner and conduct calibration checks. Ensure your job site is OSHA compliant and a safe work environment. Work with other team members to assure that a quality job is done. Communicate with the office daily to review job status, issues, problems, etc. No cell phone usage while working on company time, including riding in company vehicles, except as needed for company quoting and measurement software. Maintain a positive attitude, professional appearance, and work effectively with clients and team members.PRINCIPLE DUTIES
Visit customer homes to measure widths and heights for windows, doors, and custom glass installations (shower enclosures, mirrors, tabletops, etc.). Measure shower openings at three points (top, middle, and bottom) to ensure a perfect fit. Check for out-of-plumb walls and evaluate the curb slope using a level, recording any differences carefully. Provide on-the-spot quotes to clients, educate them on product options, and generate digital drawings/quotes via web-based estimating software. Provide and maintain personal tools and equipment to properly perform job duties. Keep the office informed daily regarding any issues related to the job that may have a negative impact on the timetable. Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by your manager.WORKING CONDITIONS
This position will be working both outdoors and indoors and requires the employee to be moving from one job location (customer homes) to another on a regular basis. This position typically includes physical labor and environmental distractions such as changes in climate and temperature. The employee may be exposed to different site conditions typical of residential construction and remodeling sites.Job Type:
