Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic team as a Controls Tech Assistant and become a vital part of maintaining and enhancing industrial automation systems. In this role, you will support the installation, calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of control systems used in manufacturing environments. Your expertise in electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems will drive operational excellence and ensure safety standards are met. Responsibilities Assist with the installation, wiring, and setup of control panels, sensors, and automation equipment using schematics and AutoCAD drawings. Support calibration and testing of precision measuring instruments, sensors, and vision inspection systems to ensure optimal performance. Perform routine maintenance on hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems to prevent downtime and extend equipment lifespan. Troubleshoot electrical issues using tools such as ohmmeters, calibrators, and high-voltage testers; interpret electrical schematics and diagrams. Collaborate with senior technicians on field service activities involving CNC machinery, distributed control systems (DCS), and low/high voltage systems. Assist in the configuration and programming of PLCs (including Calypso) for manufacturing automation processes. Support the use of AutoCAD for layout modifications and schematic updates; maintain accurate documentation for all control system modifications. Contribute to safety initiatives by adhering to industry standards for electrical experience, military-grade protocols, and calibration procedures. Qualifications Proven experience or training in industrial electrician work with a strong understanding of electrical systems, sensors, and calibration techniques. Knowledge of hydraulics, mechanical systems, and industrial maintenance practices within manufacturing settings. Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems (DCS), CNC machinery, vision inspection systems, and low/high voltage applications. Ability to read schematics accurately using AutoCAD or similar software; experience with calibration tools such as ohmmeters is preferred. Strong mechanical knowledge complemented by hands-on experience with precision measuring instruments like calipers or micrometers. Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on troubleshooting electrical issues efficiently in fast-paced environments. Prior field service experience is desirable; military background is a plus for disciplined technical work environments.
