Instrumentation & Controls Quality Assurance/Quality Controls Specialist Role and Responsibilities:
Survey and audit Instrument and Control sensors and devices in a construction environment. Diagnose and repair complex control system malfunctions requiring extensive knowledge of a variety of electronic or digital control systems. Troubleshoot and repair control hardware, including controllers, relays, measurement devices, actuators, etc. Review operating equipment data for efficiency improvements and have the ability to communicate the data professionally to a group. Review quality control of hardware installation for new construction and retrofits. Provide controls audit scope and review processes for improvement. Provide technical controls training and support to all data center operations staff. Collaborate with the global automation and optimization team to implement initiatives at the data center. Communicate all issues and upcoming audit work with construction contractors. Other duties as required to support the operation of customer data centers. Sixty percent or more of travel is required.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
3+ years of controls experience in central plants, air handling units, and evaporative cooling/humidification systems sensor and instrumentation. Working knowledge of critical environments' mechanical, electrical, and life safety systems associated with critical environments. Experience interpreting and auditing blueprints/CAD drawings and control diagrams. Communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in data centers or other critical environments is a plus. AS/BS degree in engineering/technical studies, military technical school, or equivalent work experience is a plus. DDC/PLC experience. Experience with common software programming languages: Python, PHP, SQL. Experience beyond field technician level - project management, project engineering, and operations management. Approved Class B hard hat in required areas and locations Non-conductive PPE in required areas and locations Steel-toed shoes Insulated and protector gloves (job task-specific) Eye protection Hearing protection protective clothing (job task-specific) Environment Possible exposure to hot and cold climates Occasionally may have to work in dirty environments Able to work in confined spaces and at heights Travel Travel is primarily out of the area, overnight, and global (at least 60% of the time). Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, and transport equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. Bending/squatting/kneeling/stooping/crouching/walking 8 or more hours daily. Able to work in multiple environments, such as office, industrial, or shipboard locations in cold, hot, or humid conditions, around moving equipment with the potential for producing high noise levels. Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces with appropriate PPE Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening, background check, and basic skills knowledge tests. Must have or be able to obtain a passport. Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Must be available to travel 60% or more and willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays if necessary to meet project commitments.
