Controls QA/QC Specialist Building Automation | BAS |
Mission Critical Systems Location:
Sterling, VA Compensation:
$75,000-$150,000

BAS & Controls Experience:
5+ Years Preferred Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Controls QA/QC Specialist to support field operations on large commercial, data center, and mission-critical construction projects. This is a hands-on field position focused on installation quality, testing, documentation, commissioning readiness, and project turnover of Building Automation and HVAC Control Systems . You'll routinely walk projects, inspect ongoing and completed controls installations, identify deficiencies, document issues, and follow corrective actions through final verification.
The goal is simple:
catch problems early, reduce rework, and deliver controls systems that are ready to pass commissioning the first time. Key Responsibilities Perform initial and follow-up QA/QC field inspections Verify installations against drawings, specifications, approved submittals, and manufacturer requirements Inspect PLC/BAS panels, control wiring, BACnet/IP networks, fiber, sensors, transmitters, actuators, VFD interfaces, chiller/cooling tower controls, CRAH systems, pumps, and emergency shutdown interfaces Identify deficiencies and track corrective actions through completion Support point-to-point checkout, I/O verification, device calibration, and pre-functional testing Verify readiness for startup, IST, and Level 1-5 commissioning Manage punch lists, inspection checklists, deficiency logs, and photo documentation Review redlines, as-built drawings, and turnover documentation Coordinate with project management, field supervision, subcontractors, commissioning teams, engineers, vendors, and owner representatives Maintain site safety standards and required PPE Qualifications 5+ years of BAS, controls, commissioning, or controls QA/QC experience preferred Strong knowledge of Building Automation Systems and PLC-based controls Experience with BACnet/IP networks and controls wiring Ability to read mechanical, electrical, and controls drawings Understanding of data center MEP systems and commissioning processes Strong field inspection, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills Mission-critical/data center experience preferred Experience with Siemens, Johnson Controls, Schneider Electric, Tridium, Distech, Honeywell, or Allen-Bradley valued Bluebeam Revu, Procore, and OSHA 30 experience preferred Inspect the work.
