Job Description
Field Engineering TechnicianOverview Join our team at a Microsoft data center in Racine, WI, supporting the startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting of building automation and control systems. This hands-on role focuses on Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems for HVAC, chiller plants, energy monitoring, lighting, and environmental controls. It's an excellent opportunity to gain experience with cutting-edge data center technology and build a career in building automation. Key Responsibilities + Start up, commission, troubleshoot, and optimize building automation systems. + Configure control devices, sensors, alarms, trends, and reporting tools. + Verify operation of valves, actuators, dampers, relays, and related equipment. + Diagnose and resolve system issues using software and electrical test tools. + Update control drawings and project documentation. + Support projects from startup through commissioning and owner training. + Communicate technical findings and project status with customers and project teams. + Travel occasionally for training and support at other data center locations. Required Qualifications + Minimum of 0-2 years of experience in building automation, HVAC, controls, construction, energy, power generation, or a related technical field. + Basic knowledge of HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, and temperature controls. + Ability to safely troubleshoot electrical systems and use a multimeter. + Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn. + Valid driver's license. + Ability to work extended schedules, including occasional Saturdays. Preferred Qualifications + Associate's or Bachelor's degree, technical certification, or relevant trade experience. + Experience with building automation platforms (WebCTRL preferred). + Ability to read HVAC drawings and control schematics. + Experience commissioning HVAC controls and related devices. + Strong communication and customer service skills. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Madison, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $55.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
