Production Manager / Lead Boat Builder The Role American Magic is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Composite Parts Builder to join our production team. This role is responsible for the construction, assembly, finishing, and preparation of high-performance marine and aerospace composite components. The ideal candidate is hands-on, quality-focused, and takes pride in producing accurate, clean, and well-finished work. The role requires the ability to follow detailed work instructions and production procedures while working effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Manufacture and laminate composite parts and structural components using hand lay-up, vacuum bagging, and resin infusion techniques. Cut, trim, fit, and finish composite materials to molds, tooling, and finished components. Mix and apply resins, adhesives, fillers, and other materials in accordance with manufacturer specifications and American Magic production procedures. Prepare, sand, fair, and finish composite surfaces for paint, gelcoat, or other finishing processes. Follow detailed work instructions, drawings, and production methods to ensure parts are manufactured to the required specifications. Maintain high standards of workmanship, accuracy, and attention to detail throughout the build process. Complete assigned work within scheduled timeframes while maintaining quality standards. Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas in accordance with American Magic cleanliness protocols. Properly use and maintain hand tools, power tools, PPE, and other production equipment. Work cooperatively and respectfully with boat builders, production staff, designers, and other team members. Follow all applicable health and safety requirements, including the safe handling of composite materials, resins, adhesives, and other chemicals. Required Qualifications & Skills Experience working with hand tools and power tools. Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship. Ability to accurately follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team environment. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to work to deadlines and maintain quality standards in a fast-paced production environment. Physical ability to work in confined or restricted spaces, including the interior of marine vessels. Ability to frequently climb ladders and stairs. Ability to lift and move materials and components weighing approximately 50 lbs. Ability to wear a half-face or full-face respirator when required for personal safety. Ability to wear disposable coveralls, shoe covers, and other protective equipment when required by cleanliness or safety protocols. Must meet the minimum personal tool requirements for the position. Preferred Qualifications Experience with vacuum bagging and resin infusion. Previous experience in composite manufacturing or construction. Experience working with carbon fiber and other advanced composite materials. Marine industry, boatbuilding, or boatyard experience. Experience with vinyl graphics, decals, or adhesive application. Basic understanding of marine systems, including electrical, plumbing, or rigging. Experience working in a high-performance or production-focused environment. Working Conditions Work may involve prolonged periods of standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and working in confined spaces. Regular lifting, carrying, and positioning of materials and components. Exposure to composite dust, fumes, resins, adhesives, and other chemicals. Exposure to varying temperatures and environmental conditions within a marine production facility. Use of PPE, including respirators, gloves, eye protection, coveralls, and other protective equipment, as required. Strict cleanliness protocols may apply depending on the work area and stage of production. Additional Requirements Must be a U.S. citizen or otherwise legally authorized to work in the United States. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) . Must be willing and able to meet the personal tool requirements for the position.
