Part-Time | Seasonal with opportunity for permanent placement based on performance About the Program Our after-school art program is designed to give students in kindergarten through 4th grade a fun, supportive space to explore creativity beyond the traditional classroom. Each session introduces students to engaging, hands-on art projects that encourage imagination, self-expression, and confidence. We focus on process over perfection—helping students experiment with different materials, techniques, and ideas while building foundational art skills. Projects may include drawing, painting, collage, mixed media, seasonal crafts, and collaborative group activities. The program is structured to balance creativity and classroom management, ensuring students feel both inspired and supported in a safe, positive environment. Our goal is to help young artists discover joy in creating while developing patience, focus, and pride in their work. Position Overview We are seeking an energetic, creative, and dependable After-School Art Instructor to lead engaging art experiences for students in Kindergarten through 4th grade. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, is confident managing a group of approximately 15-20 students, and can create a positive environment where students are encouraged to explore, create, and express themselves through art. This position is a great fit for an educator, teaching artist, college student studying education or the arts, youth program instructor, or creative professional with experience working with elementary-aged children. Responsibilities Lead age-appropriate art lessons and creative projects for students in grades K-4 Prepare and organize materials before each session Provide clear, engaging instructions and demonstrations Encourage creativity, confidence, self-expression, and participation Effectively manage a group of approximately 15-20 students Maintain a safe, positive, organized, and welcoming learning environment Assist students with projects while encouraging independence and creativity Manage transitions, setup, and cleanup during each session Maintain appropriate behavior expectations and redirect students when necessary Communicate professionally with program leadership and school staff Arrive on time and be prepared for each scheduled session Qualifications Preferred candidates will have: Experience working with elementary-aged children Experience teaching or facilitating art, crafts, enrichment activities, camps, after-school programs, or youth programming Strong classroom or group management skills Creativity and enthusiasm for introducing children to different forms of art Patience, professionalism, reliability, and strong communication skills Ability to work independently while following program expectations Ability to create an encouraging environment for students with different skill levels and learning needs A background in Art, Education, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Special Education, Child Development, Recreation, or a related field is preferred but not required for candidates with relevant experience.

Compensation:
Starting at $30.00+ per hour Final hourly rate will be based on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated ability to successfully lead and manage the program. Position Growth This is initially a seasonal position with the opportunity to transition into a permanent role based on performance, reliability, program needs, and overall fit. We are especially interested in someone who would like to grow with our programming and become a consistent member of our youth enrichment team.
