Job Description
The Stained Glass Instructor is responsible for planning, organizing, and teaching stained glass classes for students of varying skill levels. The instructor provides hands-on instruction in glass cutting, design, assembly, soldering, finishing techniques, and studio safety. The position fosters a positive learning environment that encourages creativity, artistic development, and technical skill acquisition. Recruits students to fill classes personally taught. Provides and follows a detailed syllabus, teaching 3-4 hours weekly for a 16-week semester (spring/fall) and/or 8-week session (summer). Provides individual feedback to adult students tailored to move them forward from their current level. Submits news and photos of student work for posting on Southport Center's social media accounts. Assists the Director with developing the Southport Center course schedule during each semester by submitting and reviewing own line-item entries. Submits accurate monthly Timesheets, due the last week of each month. Submits accurate end of term attendance rosters. Other duties as assigned by the director. Self-motivated; works independently. Passion for stained glass with solid craft and teaching skills.
