Arclabs Welding School Location:
Piedmont, SC Job Type:
Full-time About the Role Arclabs is launching a new Pipefitting Program and is seeking an experienced pipefitter to help lead its development while serving as a core instructor. This role will focus primarily on teaching pipefitting students in the lab and classroom , while also helping shape the early stages of the program—including lab setup, curriculum input, and training future instructors as the program grows. This is an opportunity to play a leadership role in building a new skilled-trades program while staying hands-on in the craft. What You'll Do Teach pipefitting skills through hands-on lab instruction and classroom learning Train students in layout, offsets, takeoffs, and pipe system assembly Demonstrate safe and professional jobsite practices Evaluate student performance through practical assessments and projects Assist in the setup and development of the pipefitting training lab Provide feedback on curriculum selection and training materials (NCCER or other programs) Help mentor and support additional instructors as the program grows Maintain strong safety standards and organized lab environments Prepare students for real-world jobsite expectations and employment What You Bring 8+ years pipefitting experience (industrial, commercial, or maritime) Strong understanding of pipe layout, takeoffs, offsets, and installation practices Ability to read isometric drawings and spool sheets Experience leading crews, apprentices, or jobsite training Strong communication and mentoring ability Commitment to safety and craftsmanship Preferred Experience training apprentices or new tradespeople Familiarity with NCCER or other structured training programs Experience with welding processes commonly used in pipefitting (SMAW, GTAW) Interest in helping develop and grow a new training program
Required:
Must have previously passed the NCCER Industrial Pipefitter written Knowledge Assessment. Recency not required; credential must be verifiable in the NCCER Registry.
Preferred:
NCCER Industrial Pipefitter Performance Verification / Skills Assessment preferred.
