Job Description

Due to the nature of the work environment, candidates must be a US person as defined by US export control regulations and eligible to access controlled unclassified information (CUI). The Pay, Perks, and Benefits Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and determined based on market benchmarks and internal equity. How You Will Help the Team The ATDM Floating Instructor, Precision Manufacturing provides instructional, operational, and coverage support to ensure consistent, high-quality training across all shifts. This role cross-trains instructors and technicians as needed and supports daily instructional operations by setting up student profiles, enrolling students in required systems, and assisting with lab preparation. The Floating Instructor is responsible for maintaining classroom and lab standards, including adherence to 5S audit guidelines, daily and weekly routines, emergency protocols, safety expectations, and basic maintenance awareness. Additional responsibilities include assisting with test proctoring, documenting credentials earned, providing tours as requested, and supporting special projects or initiatives as directed by the Department Lead Instructor. This role plays a critical part in ensuring instructional continuity, operational readiness, and a safe, professional learning environment. Hours of Work This role is responsible for addressing absences and covering vacations across three shifts as required. The primary schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. With advance notice and manager approval, the Floating Instructor will also cover second shift (Monday to Friday, 2:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.) and third shift (Sunday to Thursday, 10:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.) to ensure full program coverage. a { text-decoration: none; color: #464feb;}tr th, tr td { border: 1px solid #e6e6e6;}tr th { background-color: #f5f5f5;} Your Knowledge & Expertise Required Qualifications Two-year diploma in Precision Machining Technology (or equivalent) and/or three years of relevant occupational experience Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Creative thinking and problem-solving mindset Microsoft Office proficiency Technical math proficiency Blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation Bench inspection using precision measuring hand tools CAD/CAM software experience Programming, setup, and operation of CNC machine tools Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population Evidence of successful work experience as a team member Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Preferred Qualifications NIMS Level 1 Lean and Six Sigma experience Measuring tool calibration CMM programming and operation Multi-axis machining experience Advanced tooling practices Experience with additive manufacturing slicing software Experience with additive manufacturing (3D printing) metals and/or polymers What Makes This Role Different This role offers the opportunity to make a direct impact in a mission‑critical industry by training the next generation of skilled technicians.
