Assembly Worker Job Description This role focuses on assembling mechanical and electrical components and subassemblies by following detailed assembly instructions, blueprints, and parts lists. You will use hand and power tools to ensure each assembly meets precise measurements, fit, and specifications. Responsibilities Use assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, parts lists, tools, and materials to assemble components and subassemblies accurately. Position parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements to ensure correct alignment and fit. Assemble mechanical and electrical components by examining connections for correct fit and securely fastening parts and subassemblies. Verify specifications by measuring completed components and confirming they meet required tolerances and standards. Resolve assembly problems by adjusting or altering dimensions to meet specifications and notify a supervisor when additional resources or guidance are needed. Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively during the assembly process. Interpret and work from schematics, wiring diagrams, and other technical documentation as needed for electrical assembly. Contribute to team goals by accomplishing assigned tasks and supporting production targets. Cross-train in all areas of assembly to build versatility and provide coverage across different stations. Assist in other departments as needed to support overall production and workflow. Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety procedures while working on the assembly line. Stand for extended periods and lift components and materials weighing up to 50 lbs as part of daily tasks. Essential Skills Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand how mechanical and electrical components fit and function together. Proficiency using hand tools and power tools in a production or construction environment. Ability to read and interpret assembly instructions, blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and parts lists. Skill in using tape measures and other measuring tools to position parts and verify dimensions accurately. Experience in mechanical assembly, including positioning, fastening, and inspecting components and subassemblies. Experience in electrical assembly, including wiring and building assemblies from schematics. Ability to stand constantly throughout the shift and safely lift up to 50 lbs. Attention to detail to verify specifications and ensure correct fit and quality of completed components. Problem-solving skills to resolve assembly issues by adjusting dimensions or processes within defined specifications. Willingness to cross-train and work in multiple areas of assembly and support other departments as needed. Team-oriented mindset with the ability to contribute to shared production goals. Additional Skills & Qualifications Background in production, manufacturing, or construction environments. Familiarity with hand and power tools commonly used in assembly and construction. Comfort working with mechanical and electrical schematics and diagrams. Ability to work independently while following established procedures and safety guidelines. Work Environment The facility is very clean, organized, and focused on safety and quality. You will work on a first-shift schedule, typically from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., providing consistent daytime hours. The role is physically active and requires constant standing and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. You will regularly use hand and power tools, tape measures, and other basic shop equipment while working on mechanical and electrical assemblies. The environment emphasizes teamwork, cross-training, and flexibility, with opportunities to support different areas of the production line as needed. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Loves Park, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $24.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
