Full Job Description SUMMARY:
The Post Solder Assembler is responsible for performing post-solder assembly, rework, and inspection of electronic printed circuit board assemblies in a high-reliability manufacturing environment. This role requires expert-level soldering of through-hole and surface-mount components in compliance with IPC‑610 Class 3 and J‑STD‑001 standards, including the use of microscopes and hot-air rework equipment. The assembler interprets assembly drawings, schematics, ECNs, and customer specifications to install, modify, and repair components, cables, and wire harnesses. The position supports aerospace, defense, medical, and industrial products while maintaining quality, productivity, and safety standards in an
ISO 9001
/ AS9100-certified environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Knowledge of fluxes, solder wires, cleaning solvents, different processes (lead and lead free) fluxes. Understanding of IPC 610 Class 3 Standards for soldering SMT devices to PCBs under the microscope: resistors, capacitors, diodes, SOIC's, SOM's, SOL's, PLCC's etc. Knowledge of soldering, routing and attaching (using adhesive) jumpers wires to PCBs. Understanding of simple diagrams, ECN's or related documents to incorporate changes or modifications to PCB's during the post solder assembly process. Knowledge of resistors' color code and capacitors value reading, necessary to incorporate a change or a missing part to PCBs. Knowledge of different electrical and manual tools such as electrical screw- driver, heat guns and torque driver. Complete understanding of PCB assembly drawings and related documents: ECN's, assembly instructions, basic schematic reading. Understands and maintains a time standard of time consistently to achieve a production schedule. Complete understanding of PCB assembly processes, component installation sequence of through hole components. Capable of using microscopes to solder SMT devices such as QFP's, jumpers to SMT parts per ECN's, Capable of removing SMT devices using the PACE hot air rework station without causing damages to pads on PCB's or components. Other duties as assigned or requested by management.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 5 years of experience as a solder assembler in an electronics manufacturing environment Prior experience in a contract manufacturing (EMS) or OEM setting required High School diploma or equivalent Experience working in an ISO 9001 and/or AS9100-certified manufacturing environment Proficient in English, with the ability to communicate effectively across departments Working knowledge of IPC‑A‑610 Class 3 standards for through‑hole soldering, including lead trimming and PCB cleaning prior to final inspection Hands-on experience with J‑STD‑001 and IPC‑A‑610 soldering processes Familiarity with military and/or commercial electronic components Ability to read and interpret customer datasheets, blueprints, and special instructions to accurately install cables, subassemblies, hardware, and electronic components onto PCBs or subassemblies
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Indoor plant/floor environment. May involve working in busy and noisy areas. Requires constant communication with others to exchange information. Involves frequent bending, stooping, twisting, and sitting throughout the day. Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, and occasionally lift or carry up to 20 pounds. May involve repetitive motions with the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Must be able to position oneself in different postures, including tight and confined spaces, to accomplish tasks. May need to adjust or move objects weighing 10-20 pounds in all directions. Required to assess the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of assigned work. Must be able to move about to accomplish tasks and move between workstations.
Pay:
$20.00 - $23.00 per hour
