Job Title:
PDU Quality Control Technician Position Summary We are seeking a full-time PDU Quality Control Technician to support inspection and testing activities for Power Distribution Units (PDUs), subassemblies, and electrical components. This position is ideal for candidates with vocational training, technical school, associate degrees, or hands-on electrical wiring experience who are looking to build a long-term career in electrical manufacturing and quality systems. If you have hands-on wiring experience, understand electrical safety, and have exposure to IEC/NEC codes, you will be able to transfer those skills directly into our PDU Quality Control environment. This role provides practical experience in electrical manufacturing, inspection methodology, and industry standards within a growing production environment. Key Responsibilities Electrical & Visual Inspection Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of PDU assemblies and components Verify wiring against electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and work instructions Inspect internal wiring for workmanship quality and compliance Check proper assembly of breakers, outlets/sockets, switches, and connectors Identify workmanship defects (loose hardware, incorrect part, wrong gauge, missing labels, misrouting, cosmetic defects, etc.) Electrical Testing Conduct functional testing using standard equipment (multimeters, continuity testers, Hi-Pot testers, torque tools) Verify continuity, polarity, ground bonding, and insulation resistance per defined procedures Document test results accurately and escalate abnormal findings Ensure proper torque verification per specification Quality & Documentation Record inspection and testing results in quality systems Support nonconformance reporting (NCRs), rework tracking, and corrective action processes Assist with first article inspections and sample builds Maintain organized inspection areas following 5S standards Maintain organized inspection logs and records Participate in continuous improvement initiatives Qualifications Technical school diploma, vocational certification, or associate degree in: Electrical Technology Residential/Commercial Wiring Industrial Electricity Mechatronics Electronics Engineering Technology Or related hands-on electrical program Basic understanding of electrical concepts: AC power, DC circuits, grounding, bonding, amperage, voltage, resistance. Etc. Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and schematics Hands-on experience using hand tools, multimeters, and electrical test equipment Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety Good communication skills and ability to work in a production team environment Preferred Qualifications Experience with torque tools and torque verification Basic cable assembly knowledge Familiarity with power distribution equipment, panels, or industrial wiring Previous manufacturing or quality control experience Bilingual in English/Spanish Why Work Here? Work Environment This is a first-shift or second- shift position with working hours from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. You will work in a production setting focused on assembling electrical products, using common hand tools such as screwdrivers, tape measures, wire strippers, and utility knives. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and teamwork, with clear guidance from an assembly supervisor and collaboration with other assembly team members. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Somerset, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.70/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
