  • Job Description This role focuses on the assembly, testing, cleaning, repair, and preparation of electronic modems as they move through a structured, multi-step refurbishment process.
You will work on your feet throughout the shift, handle a variety of tasks, and collaborate closely with team members while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy. Responsibilities Receive incoming modems and accurately document all items as they arrive. Perform factory reset operations by manually pressing the appropriate controls on each unit. Set up and run automatic plug-in tests on up to 32 units at a time, monitoring longer test cycles of approximately 60-90 minutes to determine repair needs. Conduct Wi‑Fi tests to verify connectivity and performance. Carry out elevated temperature tests to ensure units meet performance requirements under specified conditions. Complete detailed cosmetic cleaning of modems to meet appearance standards. Perform cosmetic repairs on housings and external components as needed. Support in-process quality control (IPQC) by checking units at various stages to confirm they meet quality standards. Assemble and kit components and accessories according to defined specifications. Build pallets and pack out finished kits, preparing them for shipment in an organized and secure manner. Prepare finished products for shipping, ensuring correct labeling, documentation, and staging. Scan parts and units at every step of the process to maintain accurate tracking and documentation. Work collaboratively with team members and remain flexible to be cross-trained and rotated through multiple steps of the 12-step process. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area and follow all site procedures and guidelines. Use basic tools, test equipment, and RF scanners as needed for assembly, repair, and quality inspection tasks. Essential Skills Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate documentation, testing, and quality inspection. Ability to stand and remain on your feet for the entirety of the workday. Ability to work effectively with others in a team-oriented environment. Willingness to be cross-trained and perform tasks in multiple areas of the process. Good hand dexterity for handling small parts, assembly tasks, and repair work. Punctuality and reliable attendance to support consistent production flow. Experience or comfort with general labor tasks in a production or warehouse environment. Ability to use computers at a basic level for scanning, tracking, or test equipment interfaces. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with assembly or electronic assembly work. Experience in picking, packing, stocking, or retail-related tasks. Experience with repair or refurbishment of parts or electronic equipment. Familiarity with quality inspection processes in a production environment. Experience using RF scanners for tracking parts and inventory. Ability to operate or work with basic test equipment for electronics. Comfort using power tools where required for assembly or repair. Exposure to reading simple blueprints or work instructions is a plus. Why Work Here? Work Environment You will work in a brand-new facility in Elgin, IL, purpose-built for this operation, located approximately half a mile north of I‑90, half a mile south of Route 72, and just off Randall Road, with convenient access to gas stations and restaurants. The site includes a locker area and a cafeteria equipped with refrigerators and microwaves for your use. The role is active and requires being on your feet for the full shift in a production and warehouse-style environment focused on electronic modem refurbishment. You will use equipment such as RF scanners, test equipment, computers, and basic power tools while following defined processes and quality standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elgin, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00
  • $18.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
