$21/hr+ Job Description The POC Assistant supports proof-of-concept, prototype, and product development activities by performing hands-on assembly and basic inspection of components and builds. This role requires strong hand dexterity, attention to detail, and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision while working across multiple projects and processes in a clean, lab-based manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Perform precise hand assembly of proof-of-concept, prototype, and development builds. Follow technical drawings, work instructions, specifications, and verbal instructions to complete assemblies accurately. Maintain high workmanship standards and consistent quality throughout all builds. Support assembly, modification, and rework activities as projects evolve. Operate hand tools, hand presses, fixtures, and small machines safely and effectively. Adapt quickly between different projects and assembly processes as priorities change. Perform basic in-process inspections according to established inspection plans. Use microscopes, digital measuring devices, and basic inspection equipment to verify product requirements. Record inspection results accurately and completely as required. Identify and flag assembly, component, material, or quality issues during the build process. Recognize discrepancies between drawings, instructions, components, and actual build conditions and escalate as needed. Communicate concerns to the team and seek guidance when requirements or inspection results are unclear. Read and interpret basic blueprints to guide assembly and inspection activities. Apply basic knowledge of electrical principles and circuit layouts when applicable to the build. Participate in technical discussions regarding product and proof-of-concept assembly to support continuous improvement. Assist with organization of components, materials, tools, and project items to maintain efficient workflows. Support inventory, material handling, receiving, and shipping activities as needed. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area at all times. Follow company safety and quality procedures consistently. Stand and perform repetitive assembly and inspection tasks for 810 hours per shift. Demonstrate flexibility by cross-training and assisting in other areas of the plant as needed. Essential Skills Minimum 6 months of assembly experience. Strong hand dexterity and ability to perform detailed manual assembly work. Ability to stand and perform repetitive tasks for 810 hours per shift. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision. Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints. Basic understanding of electrical principles, circuit layouts, wiring, and soldering when applicable. Comfort using hand tools, hand presses, fixtures, and small machines. Ability to use microscopes, digital measuring devices, and basic inspection equipment. High attention to detail and commitment to quality. Flexible attitude and willingness to be cross-trained and support multiple areas of the plant. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a lab, cleanroom, or controlled manufacturing environment is beneficial. Familiarity with basic inspection plans and documentation is an advantage. Comfort participating in technical discussions related to assembly and product builds. The position involves standing and performing repetitive work for 810 hours per shift, with an emphasis on safety, cleanliness, and adherence to established procedures across all work areas. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lisle, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00
•$23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
