The solder repair technician repairs circuit boards which fail at test or are otherwise not functioning due to not meeting IPC acceptable criteria. The technician will also participate in prepping sub-assemblies for the Power Department, which includes prepping and soldering wires, testing equipments, and small part assembly. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with electro-mechanical components, interpret electrical schematics, and contribute to innovative engineering solutions. Responsibilities Perform soldering of surface mount technology (SMT) and through-hole components on printed circuit boards (PCBs) following blueprint specifications and schematics. Selects appropriate solder, flux, and tooling for each unique product per customer specifications Reworks components which may be incorrect, damaged or unacceptable. Read and interpret electrical/PCB schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints to accurately assemble electrical panels and electro-mechanical systems Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, soldering irons, hot air re-work tools, and specialized equipment such as ohmmeters to test continuity, resistance, and proper functioning of assembled components Follows re-work instructions from Quality Control and Engineering Collaborates with supervisor and test technicians to troubleshoot and repair power units when needed Follow IPC 610 standards for electronic assembly quality control, ensuring all solder joints meet industry specifications Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues during assembly or testing phases using engineering troubleshooting techniques Maintains clean and safe work area by participating in 5s practices All other duties as assigned by management Experience Proven experience in electronics assembly, PCB soldering, and electrical wiring within a manufacturing environment. Hands-on experience with surface mount technology (SMT), electrical panel building, or electro-mechanical component integration. Ability to operate hand tools such as soldering irons, wire strippers, crimpers, and power tools safely and effectively. Knowledge of IPC 610 standards for electronic assemblies combined with strong mechanical assembly skills. Experience troubleshooting complex electro-mechanical systems using multimeters (ohmmeters) and other diagnostic tools preferred Experience with ESD control program Strong understanding of blueprint specifications, schematics, electrical wiring diagrams, and engineering troubleshooting processes.
