Job Description

About Teletrix Teletrix has been developing realistic radiation detection training solutions for more than 38 years. We manufacture simulated meters and other advanced training tools used by organizations involved in commercial nuclear power, supporting industries and various government agencies. Our products allow organizations to create realistic training scenarios that help prepare and protect their workforce from the hazards associated with radiation and radioactive contamination. Teletrix is a small company with fewer than 10 employees. Our work environment is friendly and highly collaborative, with each department supporting the others when needed. Most days are relaxed and methodical, but things can move quickly when a customer requires a short turnaround. No radioactive materials or radioactive equipment are handled at our facility. Position Summary Teletrix is seeking a Small Electronics Assembler to join our manufacturing team. This position is intended to develop into a key role within our assembly operation. The successful candidate will work closely with our Senior Assembler, learning Teletrix's products, assembly methods, testing procedures, and manufacturing processes with the goal of eventually assuming the responsibilities of the Senior Assembler as that employee approaches retirement. The primary responsibilities involve hands-on assembly of small electronic products, including printed circuit boards (PCBs), wiring harnesses, and finished products . Depending on experience and demonstrated ability, the position may also involve troubleshooting, testing, procedure development, process improvement, packaging, laser engraving, labeling, and other light manufacturing activities. We are looking for someone who is willing to learn, mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, dependable, and capable of working independently when necessary . Formal experience is important, but the right person with strong practical skills and the willingness to learn will be considered. What You'll Do Depending on production requirements and your level of experience, responsibilities will include:
  • Assemble small electronic products and subassemblies according to written procedures, drawings, schematics, and established processes.
  • Perform through-hole and, as experience develops, surface-mount soldering.
  • Assemble and solder wiring harnesses and other wire assemblies.
  • Assemble printed circuit boards and electronic components.
  • Assemble completed products and their associated mechanical and electrical components.
  • Perform electrical and functional testing of assemblies and finished products.
  • Use test equipment such as multimeters and other electrical test equipment.
  • Troubleshoot assemblies and products that do not operate as intended.
  • Inspect completed work for quality, workmanship, and proper operation.
  • Follow established manufacturing and testing procedures.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and test results as required.
  • Work closely with the Senior Assembler and other members of the Teletrix team to learn products, processes, and procedures.
  • Assist with inventory activities, including receiving and organizing materials.
  • Assist with packaging and shipping when needed.
  • Operate equipment such as a laser engraver or label maker when required.
  • Perform occasional light manufacturing and maintenance tasks using common hand and power tools.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as skills and experience develop.
What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys hands-on work and figuring out how things work . You should be comfortable learning new processes and taking on responsibilities as you become proficient.
You should be:
  • Willing and able to learn new skills and processes.
  • Detail-oriented and organized.
  • Mechanically inclined with good practical judgment.
  • Comfortable troubleshooting problems.
  • Capable of working independently when necessary while also working effectively as part of a small team.
  • Comfortable asking questions when clarification is needed.
  • Dependable and consistent.
  • Respectful and professional when working with others.
  • Willing to take on new tasks and responsibilities as needed.
  • Able to recognize when a problem requires additional input and work collaboratively toward a solution.
  • Comfortable working in a small-business environment where employees may occasionally help outside their primary responsibilities. We value problem-solving ability, workmanship, reliability, and willingness to learn at least as much as formal credentials. Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English sufficiently to communicate with coworkers and understand written procedures, instructions, and technical information.
  • Some experience with electronic assembly or PCB assembly.
  • Basic soldering experience or demonstrated aptitude for learning soldering techniques.
  • Ability to read and understand basic electrical schematics.
  • Ability to use common hand tools safely and effectively.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to read small print and work with small electronic components.
  • Reliable attendance and the ability to work the agreed-upon schedule.
  • Ability to work on-site at our Plum, Pennsylvania facility. Preferred Qualifications The following are preferred but are not necessarily required:
  • Approximately four years of experience in electronics assembly, electronics manufacturing, or a related hands-on field.
  • Experience with both through-hole and surface-mount soldering.
  • Experience assembling wiring harnesses.
  • Experience assembling and troubleshooting printed circuit boards.
  • Experience using a multimeter and other basic electrical test equipment.
  • Electronics technician or electronic assembly experience.
  • Trade school or technical training in electronics, electrical work, manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Experience with mechanical assembly and common hand or power tools.
  • Experience working from written manufacturing procedures or work instructions.
Relevant hands-on experience may be considered in place of formal education beyond high school. Entry-level candidates may also be considered if they demonstrate strong mechanical/electrical aptitude, practical problem-solving skills, reliability, and a genuine willingness to learn. Growth Into the Senior Assembler Role This position is being created to prepare a new team member to eventually assume the responsibilities of our Senior Assembler. Initially, you will work alongside the Senior Assembler and learn our products and processes. Your responsibilities will increase as your knowledge and proficiency develop. At a minimum, we expect the successful candidate to become proficient in basic wire assemblies and simple PCB assemblies. As experience develops, the goal is for the employee to become capable of handling more complex assemblies, surface-mount soldering, troubleshooting, testing, and process-related responsibilities. A successful transition into the senior role would ultimately mean being able to:
  • Complete assemblies with minimal outside assistance.
  • Troubleshoot problems and determine appropriate solutions.
  • Understand and follow Teletrix's manufacturing and testing processes.
  • Help create or update manufacturing procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve assembly processes.
  • Take ownership of assigned work.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to other employees as appropriate.
As Teletrix grows, there may also be opportunities to advance into senior or supervisory positions. Physical & Work Environment This is primarily a bench-assembly position. Employees will spend much of their workday seated while working with small electronic components and assemblies.
The position may occasionally require:
  • Lifting or moving items generally under 30 pounds, with occasional items weighing up to approximately 50 pounds.
  • Use of a step ladder.
  • Use of hand and power tools.
  • Working with low-voltage, low-current electrical equipment.
  • Use of isopropyl alcohol for cleaning.
  • Wearing nitrile gloves and safety glasses when appropriate.
The work environment is considered low risk, and appropriate safety practices are expected at all times. Teletrix is a small company, and that is reflected in the way we work. You won't be limited to a narrow list of responsibilities. When the workload requires it, everyone helps where they can. That might mean helping with shipping, packaging, light manufacturing, or another task outside your normal assembly work. We value people who can take a problem, use good judgment, and make a reasonable attempt at solving it rather than waiting for someone to provide instructions for every step. At the same time, you won't be expected to know everything. We have established procedures, experienced employees, and a team-oriented approach to solving problems. Knowing when to ask for help is just as important as knowing when you can figure something out yourself. Most importantly, we expect employees to be dependable, respectful of their coworkers, and willing to contribute to the team. Important Industry Requirement Teletrix develops training products for the nuclear power industry and organizations that support it. Applicants must be comfortable working in support of the commercial nuclear power industry and must not have a personal objection to the industry that would interfere with their ability to perform the job. This position does not involve handling radioactive materials or radioactive equipment. Equal Opportunity Teletrix is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to qualified applicants. Employment decisions are based on qualifications, skills, experience, performance, and business needs without regard to legally protected characteristics. To Apply Please submit your resume and a brief description of your relevant electronics, assembly, soldering, mechanical, or technical experience. Candidates with strong hands-on skills and a demonstrated willingness to learn are encouraged to apply, even if they do not meet every preferred qualification.
