Job Description
Mechanical Assembly Technician / RP TechnicianJob SummaryWe are seeking a detail oriented and safety focused Mechanical Assembly Technician to support the assembly of high voltage power distribution racks and panel assemblies in a manufacturing environment. This position requires hands on assembly skills, the ability to follow detailed work instructions, and a strong commitment to quality and safety.
Candidates with prior experience in the Aerospace or Automotive industries are strongly preferred, due to familiarity with regulated manufacturing environments, precision assembly, and strict quality standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesAssemble high voltage power distribution rack and panel assemblies using hand tools, torque drivers, torque wrenches, crimpers, strippers, and specialized equipment.
Install and route wire harnesses, power connectors, and subassemblies according to drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
Set up and operate wire specific machines and assembly tools.
Position, align, and secure components using jigs, templates, and torque controlled tools.
Install parts and components to build complete assemblies and detail parts.
Perform visual inspections and basic measurements using micrometers, calipers, and other gauges to ensure compliance with specifications.
Conduct basic troubleshooting and perform minor rework or adjustments as required.
Accurately document inspection results and production data.
Follow all safety requirements including electrical safety and ESD precautions.
Comply with applicable manufacturing processes, quality standards such as AS9100, and company procedures.
Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
Support cross training efforts and perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
Required Skills and KnowledgeBasic understanding of electrical systems, circuits, and electrical safety.
Ability to read and interpret assembly instructions, wiring diagrams, schematics, and drawings.
Strong manual dexterity with small components including crimping, stripping, and precise torque application.
High attention to detail to ensure products meet quality and customer specifications.
Ability to follow instructions consistently and accept responsibility for work performed.
Basic problem solving skills related to assembly and production issues.
Preferred ExperiencePrior experience in Aerospace or Automotive manufacturing environments strongly preferred.
Experience working in regulated production settings with strict quality and safety standards.
Mechanical, electrical, or electromechanical assembly experience.
Familiarity with inspection methods, torque requirements, and production documentation.
QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED required.
Vocational or technical training in a mechanical or electrical field preferred.
Minimum of six months experience in manufacturing, assembly, or production preferred.
Physical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to perform repetitive tasks and work in varied physical positions including bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching.
