Mechanical Assembler Job Description Join a collaborative assembly and production team that builds high‑quality process water chillers used in advanced technologies such as electron optics, x‑ray, distillation, 3D printing, MRI, and medical device cooling. As a Mechanical Assembler, you will work on either the OPC or Lx product lines, assembling mechanical and electrical components, reading schematics, and ensuring each chiller meets precise performance and quality standards in a modern, well‑equipped facility. Responsibilities Assemble process water chillers on the OPC or Lx production lines according to engineering specifications and work orders. Fit and braze copper tubing with accuracy and attention to detail. Wire basic electrical components following electrical diagrams and safety guidelines. Assemble brass fittings and other mechanical components to build complete chiller systems. Read and interpret pipe and wiring schematics, blueprints, and mechanical drawings. Work with components such as motors, copper piping, compressors, fans, electrical wiring, pumps, and valves to build fully functional units. Use hand and power tools safely and effectively for mechanical assembly and machine building tasks. Perform mechanical and basic electrical troubleshooting on assemblies as needed. Follow production processes, documentation requirements, and quality standards using an iPad to track hours, read prints, and complete work orders. Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with employees across the organization to coordinate work and resolve issues. Maintain an organized workstation and contribute to a clean, safe, and efficient production environment. Multi‑task and manage multiple assembly steps while meeting production schedules and deadlines. Essential Skills Strong mechanical skills with hands‑on experience in mechanical assembly or building. Ability to fit and braze copper tubing safely and accurately. Experience using hand tools and power tools in a production or assembly environment. Ability to wire basic electrical components and perform electrical wiring tasks. Capability to read and interpret blueprints, pipe and wiring schematics, and mechanical drawings. Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with machine building, machine assembly, or production work. Basic troubleshooting skills for mechanical and electrical issues. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with employees throughout the organization. Strong organizational and listening skills to follow instructions and production processes. Good analytical and problem‑solving skills to diagnose issues and improve assembly methods. Ability to multi‑task and manage several responsibilities in a fast‑paced production setting. Ability to work full‑time on a day shift schedule, Monday through Friday. Additional Skills & Qualifications Knowledge of refrigeration systems is a plus. Experience with HVAC systems, HVAC equipment, or brazing is beneficial. Experience with machine build or machine assembly is advantageous. Familiarity with production environments and documentation using digital tools such as tablets or iPads. Comfort working with motors, compressors, fans, pumps, valves, and other mechanical components. Work Environment The role is based in a modern, three‑year‑old facility in Elmhurst, IL that is well lit, spacious, and designed for comfort and efficiency. The standard schedule is a first shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. You will have your own workstation equipped with an iPad to track hours, review prints and work orders, and complete documentation. The facility features a game/break room and an in‑facility gym, supporting both relaxation and wellness during the workday. All tools and PPE are provided, and there is a reimbursement program for work boots and prescription safety eyewear. The dress code allows practical attire such as t‑shirts and durable shorts, and you may wear one earbud to listen to music while working, contributing to a comfortable and focused work environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elmhurst, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
