Job Title:
Mechanical Assembler Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Assembler to join our team in the AC/DC/Wire Departments. This position offers a 1st shift schedule with the potential for overtime on Fridays, which is determined by Wednesday morning. The primary role involves working within a manufacturing facility that assembles solar panel power boxes and switchboards, with tasks set up daily for efficient completion. Responsibilities Assemble panel boxes, switchboards, and wires as directed. Pull and spool wire, and read blueprints to determine assembly requirements. Work collaboratively in a team on the assembly line, performing non-automated tasks. Utilize hand tools, air power tools, and torque wrenches for assembly. Screw in screws, nuts, and bolts and strip wires into metal plates to assemble power boxes. Achieve the assembly target of 64 panels per day after training. Essential Skills Mechanical assembly Blueprint reading Tape measure proficiency Use of hand tools Power tool operation Wiring skills Additional Skills & Qualifications Ability to read prints (similar to Ikea instructions) Experience in using basic hand tools Ability to lift up to 40 lbs Familiarity with foot pedal crimpers Experience with pneumatic tools Why Work Here? Work Environment The work environment is clean and involves manual labor, with the ability to lift up to 40 lbs. Teamwork is emphasized on the assembly line and during wire spooling. The atmosphere is casual, with a dress code requiring shirts with sleeves and steel-toe boots. Safety glasses and gloves are provided if needed. Employees can wear headphones with one earbud during work. The facility is equipped with fans, is not temperature-controlled, and operates in a small shop setting with 4-6 persons per team and a total of 20 people on the 1st shift. Referrals are welcomed as we expand our workforce. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Walker, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
