Piper / HVAC Piping Assembler Job Description This role focuses on assembling piping systems for HVAC applications using hand tools and brazing equipment. You will work with copper and other metals, use an oxyacetylene torch to bind and fit materials, and learn how to braze copper pipe while accurately measuring and fitting metal openings and connections. Responsibilities Assemble piping systems for HVAC installations using hand tools and production equipment. Use an oxyacetylene torch to bind metal components and perform fit-ups for piping assemblies. Learn and apply brazing techniques to join copper pipe safely and effectively. Measure and mark materials accurately to ensure proper fit of metal openings and connections for joining copper pipe. Follow verbal instructions and production guidelines to complete work accurately and on time. Operate general production and manufacturing equipment as needed in a machine and assembly shop environment. Perform soldering and brazing tasks while working safely around open flames and heated materials. Read and interpret basic blueprints or mechanical drawings to support assembly and fabrication tasks. Support general production activities, including material handling, assembly, and quality checks. Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety procedures in a manufacturing setting. Essential Skills Ability to use an oxyacetylene torch and work safely around flames. Willingness to learn how to braze copper pipe and apply proper brazing techniques. Ability to follow verbal instructions accurately and consistently. Basic mechanical aptitude for assembly and production work. Capability to perform soldering tasks in a manufacturing environment. Comfort working in a general production, manufacturing, machine operator, and assembly setting. Willingness to learn to read a tape measure to 1/8 inch (ability is a plus and can be taught). Ability to work the scheduled shifts and overtime as required. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience fabricating aluminum, stainless steel, or carbon steel is a plus but not required. Experience using a tape measure to 1/8 inch is an advantage. Familiarity with blueprints or mechanical drawings is beneficial. Previous experience in production, general manufacturing, or machine operation is helpful. Comfort using brazing, soldering, and oxyacetylene equipment in a shop environment. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a clean manufacturing machine and assembly shop focused on production and fabrication work. Training takes place on first shift from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with a 30-minute lunch. The regular second-shift schedule runs Monday through Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m., with overtime typically available on Fridays. You will work around manufacturing equipment, assembly stations, and brazing and soldering tools, including oxyacetylene torches. Appropriate work attire includes steel-toe footwear and pants suitable for a production and fabrication environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dayton, TN.
