Job Description The Mechanical Assembler produces high-quality components by assembling mechanical and electrical parts and subassemblies. This role involves integrating electrical wiring into products at an intermediate level, using a variety of hand and power tools, and following mechanical blueprints and assembly diagrams to build and install finished assemblies in cases and cabinets. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work area. Responsibilities Produce components by assembling mechanical parts and subassemblies according to specifications and assembly diagrams. Perform electrical wiring tasks and integrate electrical wires into products at an intermediate level of proficiency. Use hand tools such as crimps, stakes, screws, bolts, rivets, welds, solders, cements, and press fits, as well as similar tools, to assemble and secure components. Mount assembled components, including transformers, resistors, transistors, capacitors, integrated circuits, and sockets, onto chassis panels. Connect component wires to circuits and route wires between individual component leads to ensure proper electrical connections. Install finished assemblies or subassemblies into cases and cabinets, ensuring proper fit, alignment, and secure attachment. Position and align components and parts accurately to meet mechanical and electrical specifications. Use hand tools and machines to assemble parts efficiently while maintaining high quality standards. Conduct quality control checks on assemblies and subassemblies to verify compliance with technical and safety requirements. Clean and maintain the work area, equipment, and tools regularly to support a safe and organized production environment. Prepare work to be accomplished by reviewing parts lists and gathering required parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials before starting assembly tasks. Follow production processes and assembly line procedures to meet output and schedule expectations. Lift and move components and assemblies weighing up to 50 lbs as needed during the assembly process. Essential Skills Proficiency working with a variety of hand and power tools, including torque drills, wrenches, and ratchets. Ability to read and interpret a tape measure accurately for precise measurements. Experience reading mechanical blueprints or mechanical assembly diagrams to guide assembly work. Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working in a mechanical assembly environment. Ability to work on an assembly line and follow standardized production procedures. Skill using torque tools and other precision equipment to ensure proper fastening and assembly. Capability to lift up to 50 lbs safely and repeatedly as part of daily responsibilities. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with mechanical repair or maintenance activities is beneficial. Familiarity with both hand and power tools in a production setting. Comfort working with electrical components and wiring at an intermediate level. Attention to detail and commitment to performing thorough quality control checks. Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the shift. Why Work Here? The environment involves working on an assembly line with mechanical and electrical components, using hand and power tools, and adhering to safety and quality standards throughout the day. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Charleston, SC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00
