Job Title:
Mechanical Assembler Job Description This role focuses on producing high-quality components by assembling mechanical and electrical parts and subassemblies. You will work with hand and power tools, interpret mechanical blueprints and assembly diagrams, and perform intermediate-level electrical wiring to integrate electrical components into finished products. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work area. Responsibilities Produce components by assembling parts and subassemblies according to specifications and work instructions. Perform intermediate-level electrical wiring and integrate electrical wires into products to ensure proper function and safety. Use hand tools such as crimps, stakes, screws, bolts, rivets, welds, soldering tools, cements, press fits, and similar tools to assemble and secure components. Mount assembled components, including transformers, resistors, transistors, capacitors, integrated circuits, and sockets onto chassis and panels. Connect component wires to circuits and connect wires between individual component leads to complete electrical assemblies. Install finished assemblies or subassemblies into cases, cabinets, or larger systems as required. Position and align components and parts accurately to ensure proper fit, function, and alignment within assemblies. Operate hand tools and machines to assemble parts efficiently while following safety and quality standards. Conduct quality control checks on assembled parts and finished products to verify they meet specifications and standards. Clean and maintain the work area, equipment, and tools to ensure a safe and organized production environment. Prepare work to be accomplished by studying parts lists and gathering required parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials before starting assembly tasks. Use torque drills, wrenches, ratchets, and other torque tools to tighten fasteners to specified levels. Work effectively in an assembly line environment, contributing to production targets and workflow. Perform basic repairs and adjustments on assemblies as needed to correct defects or improve fit and function. Essential Skills Proficiency working with various types of hand and power tools, including torque drills, wrenches, and ratchets. Ability to read and interpret a tape measure accurately. Experience reading mechanical blueprints or mechanical assembly diagrams. Strong mechanical aptitude for assembling and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical components. Ability to work effectively in an assembly line production environment. Capability to lift up to 50 pounds as part of daily tasks. Ability to perform intermediate-level electrical wiring and integrate electrical wires into products. Attention to detail and commitment to conducting quality control checks. Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area and properly care for tools and equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience using torque tools to ensure fasteners meet specified torque requirements. in mechanical assembly, repair, or related production work. Comfort working with components such as transformers, resistors, transistors, capacitors, integrated circuits, and sockets. Familiarity with installing assemblies into cases, cabinets, or enclosures. Ability to follow parts lists, gather required components, and prepare work efficiently before starting assembly tasks. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a climate-controlled production facility designed to provide a comfortable and consistent working temperature. You can expect 10-hour shifts and weekend work for the time being, supporting strong production demand. First shift typically runs from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and second shift typically runs from 4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., with multiple openings on each shift. The environment includes the regular use of hand and power tools, torque tools, and assembly equipment, with an emphasis on safety, organization, and maintaining clean workstations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Charleston, SC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
