Job Title:
Piper Job Description This role focuses on assembling piping systems for HVAC applications using hand tools and brazing equipment. You will work with copper piping, learn and apply brazing techniques, and use an oxyacetylene torch to bind metal components and create precise fit-ups. The position involves measuring, cutting, and fitting metal openings and connections to ensure accurate and secure joints in HVAC piping systems. Responsibilities Assemble piping systems for HVAC installations using hand tools and production equipment. Use an oxyacetylene torch to bind metal components and perform fit-ups on piping systems. Learn and apply brazing techniques for copper pipe, ensuring strong and reliable joints. Measure and cut metal openings and connections to fit copper pipe accurately. Read and interpret tape measurements, including down to 1/8 inch, to ensure precise fabrication. Follow verbal instructions carefully to complete tasks safely and correctly. Work safely around open flames and brazing torches, adhering to all safety procedures. Support general production and manufacturing activities in a clean machine and assembly shop. Perform basic mechanical assembly tasks as needed to support HVAC piping fabrication. Operate manufacturing and assembly equipment as required for production. Essential Skills Ability to follow verbal instructions accurately and consistently. Comfort working with brazing torches and around open flames in a manufacturing environment. Basic mechanical aptitude for assembly and fabrication tasks. Willingness to learn brazing of copper pipe and fitting metal connections. Ability to work scheduled shifts, including second shift Monday through Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. Additional Skills & Qualifications Ability to read a tape measure to 1/8 inch (can be taught on the job). Experience fabricating aluminum, stainless steel, or carbon steel is a plus but not required. Experience in general production or manufacturing is beneficial. Experience as a machine operator is an advantage. Familiarity with blueprint reading is helpful. Experience with soldering, brazing, and using oxyacetylene torches is a plus. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a clean manufacturing machine and assembly shop focused on HVAC piping systems. Training occurs on first shift from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with a 30-minute lunch break. The long-term schedule is second shift, Monday through Thursday, from 5:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. Personal protective equipment such as steel-toe footwear is required, along with appropriate work pants and shirts suitable for a manufacturing environment where brazing torches and machinery are in use. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dayton, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
