Openwork is seeking an experienced Mechanical Assembler to join a hands-on manufacturing operation in Houston, TX. This position is responsible for constructing, assembling, rebuilding, inspecting, and testing mechanical equipment while ensuring finished products meet customer specifications. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong mechanical assembly experience, blueprint-reading skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality and safety.WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Assemble and align mechanical components and equipment
- Read and interpret assembly blueprints, specifications, and job travelers
- Inspect, operate, and test completed products for proper function and quality
- Set and verify component and parts clearances
- Rework, repair, or replace damaged parts and assemblies
- Assemble and align gears within gearboxes
- Install piping, fixtures, wiring, and electrical components using hand tools
- Use hand and power tools to fit, trim, clean, and finish parts
- Maintain and lubricate parts and components
- Position and move components manually or with hoists
- Verify completed work meets blueprint and customer specifications
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 2-3 years of assembly experience in a manufacturing environment
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of machines, tools, basic maintenance, and mechanical assembly
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
- Experience using hand and power tools
- Strong attention to detail and quality
- Ability to inspect and test completed products
- Reliable and consistent attendance
- Strong safety awareness and dependable work habits
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Non-climate-controlled manufacturing facility
- Industrial noise levels requiring participation in a hearing conservation program
- Ability to lift 25-50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, and remain active throughout the scheduled shift
- Must be flexible to work overtime based on business needs
