Job Description
Jumpstitch Studio is seeking a creative, detail oriented embroidery studio assistant to join our growing team. We are a custom embroidery and wool felt applique studio located in Chicago's northside. We are a small studio currently run by two owners who are experiencing their starting stages of expansion and are looking to hire their first addition to the team. At Jumpstitch Studio we have a reputation for quality, precision, and an open minded approach to complicated projects so we are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys the creative process, takes pride in the work they produce, and is always ready to learn more. Our most popular felt applique processes require patience and extreme attention to detail. A creative, hands-on background is a must. To start the position will be part time and primarily consisting of simple tasks such as shipping, keeping track of inventory, and assisting with clean up of embroidered items. If you can take to this well and quickly then we plan to start training for the actual embroidery production process. We require no prior experience and are willing to train the right candidate to our own tailored style of embroidery production. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, organized, with a strong work ethic and desire to keep growing in their craft . Since we are still a team of owners we are aiming to have our first few hires become an integral part of our operation as we grow. The tasks may seem small to start but depending on where you want to go with it there is a lot of room for others to grow with us, not only for us. Schedule & Hours This position will start at 10-20 hours per week with potential of more hours as the busy season ramps up We will be treating this as seasonal at first to test our fit with one another Key Responsibilities Keep track of shipping supplies and blank inventory Shipping items Inspecting each item before shipment to ensure each item hits our quality standards Embroidery clean up, maintaining the same eye for detail when shipping Potential embroidery production Qualifications Strong hands-on ability, experience working with 3D mediums Excellent hand-eye coordination and ability to work with small details Able to perform repetitive, detailed handwork High personal standard regarding craftsmanship Ability to work independently, stay organized, and manage time If you think this is the position for you, please include a cover letter explaining your relevant hands-on experience and why you think you'd be a good fit.
