Full-time Position Summary:
This position fabricates parts and assemblies for use by other departments or as finished products.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
I. Planning A. Review current assignments and plan their execution for maximum efficiency. B. Confer with leadership, as needed, to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner. II. Execution A. Operate shear, saw, and other machinery required to prepare material. B. Operate drill press, manual lathe, manual mill and other machinery required to fabricate parts and products to specifications. C. Utilize knowledge of machining processes, speeds/feeds, metals/materials and tooling to program, set up, and operate CNC mills and lathes for optimal performance. D. Develop fixtures and tooling to reduce CNC set ups and run times. E. Utilize software (surfcam) to generate mill/lathe program files. F. Operate punches required to fabricate parts to specifications. G. Use hand tools required to fabricate parts to specifications. H. Clean machinery, tools, fixtures and work area as instructed. I. Perform maintenance on machinery, tools, fixtures, etc. as instructed. J. Serve as backup for other positions when instructed. III. Accountability A. Be responsible for reading and accurately interpreting prints, process sheets, and other instructions required to produce parts that meet Company specifications and quality standards. B. Be responsible for the accuracy and timely completion of all related paperwork. C. Be responsible for executing assigned tasks in a safe manner and according to company policy. D. Be responsible and accountable for any and all tools and material issued to them and promptly reporting any damage. E. Be responsible for maintaining CNC program files and applicable software. F. Responsible for compliance with company policies and rules, regular attendance and the efficient use of time and materials. G. Recommend new or different procedures, processes, materials and tooling that could improve the product or reduce costs. IV. Miscellaneous A. Participate in periodic formal and informal training sessions to maintain and/or improve work related skills. B. Perform and complete any other activities which may be associated, assigned or inherent with the position, including the training of co-workers temporarily or permanently assigned to a task that you are familiar or skilled.
QUALIFICATIONS
I. Associate/Technical Degree with emphasis in Machining Processes or equivalent work experience. II. Ability to receive, understand and execute verbal and written instructions. III. Ability to measure accurately using micrometer, vernier calipers, etc. IV. Advanced math skills. V. Ability to perform functions of the job outlined above without creating a threat to the safety of oneself or others.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
l. Regularly required to stand, walk and push wheeled carts. ll. Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel. lll. Regularly required to reach with hands and arms. lV. Regularly required to talk and hear. V. May be required to sit, stoop, bend or crawl. Vl. May be required to lift, carry and/or move up to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
l. Routinely exposed to manual, mechanical and automated equipment. ll. Must negotiate stairways and narrow aisles. lll. Will be exposed to a moderate noise level. lV. Safety eyewear required to be worn at all times. V. Appropriate footwear will be worn in shop area.
